Search contacts by typing just part of the number

Hi,

I had a qtek 7070 about two years ago and one of the features I liked the most was the ability to search for contacts just by typing ANY part of a phone number OR name... If someone's number was 123456 I typed 456 in the home screen and I got him highlighted....

Now, the problem is that I got another Qtek 7070 today and I can't find where to turn this feature on... When typing number in the home screen, it finds the contact only if I start typing the number from the beginning (123.... in the above case). I tried upgrading it to Qtek 1.5 ROM but it is the same....

Oh, it's SmartPhone 2002 ;)

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Darko

As far as I ever known it you have only ever been able to find a contact number wise by typing the start of the number.

What may have been happening is that what you thought was themiddle of the number was actually part of their first or second name.

Just a suggestion

Thanks for the answer.

Well, even if I put the number instead of the first or last name, it only works with the beginning, so that is not it, because I clearly remember that when I typed the last three numbers (or number(s) in the middle), it highlighted them ;)

Maybe I can add to the mix...

It WILL find NUMBERS that match, when you start to key in a number, but ONLY it seems, if they are in the recent calls list...

If I start to dial my partner's number, it eventually after enough dials to whittle it down, will show her entry in the list - but ONLY as a recent call entry - it does not show her proper phonebook entry.

Might this be something to do with it?

I am using WM5.0 by the way...

Hmm, yeah, but it's not a problem that it doesn't find the number... the problem is that it finds it only if you start typing the beginning of the number, not just any part of it. I'm 100% (even more ;)) that there WAS this functionality on my previous qtek 7070...

Here's another one :

I went through all my Company contacts on my SP5 and put their Phone number's in the "Company" field .. and THESE numbers don't come up when typing part of the number at all unless they are in the recent calls list ..

There is a view option to view by company where they show up .. but thats too many presses ..

small .. but pretty frustrating !
