One or two problems with SPV 550

I'm not very technical and they're probably just little minor things that can be sorted at the drop of a hat, but I really don't fancy spending ages on the phone to Orange again (lets just say, I now know the customer services menu off by heart. Gah).

I've got the Track Converter from Orange for SPV, but various songs are coming up with "Warning! The file 01 Losing A Friend.wma** does not contain track information. If you want to see the file name except the track information on your phone, click OK. If you want to fix it yourself first, click Cancel"

(** just an example)

If I click "OK", another box pops up with "Unknown error encountered" and the song file has failed. If I click "Cancel", it's just cancelled.

It's not happening on every song, but the songs that HAVE managed to go through are now unable to be played on my phone. I have the track list but when I click to play, it comes up with "alert. Unable to open song file".

Argh.

I've tried switching the phone off and on again (this apparently updates my track list if I've put new songs on it anyway) but I still can't get the music files to actually *play*.

If anyone can help me out, thanks so much! My Dad and I had so much stress over it yesterday, and Orange weren't really being helpful (one man kept getting my address and postcode wrong, the other had no idea what I was talking about, and for call-waiting music they played various Christmas songs - not something I fancied hearing when having a disappointing Christmas)

Orange have customer services? ;)

Well Im not familiar with this Orange Track Converter so what are you trying to do? Obviously you want music on your phone but why are you using this converter?

Oh, and you dont need to turn the phone on and off to update the songs in Windows Media Player. When in WMP just press menu and look for update library(You may have to press Menu- Library before you can see this), it will then search for songs and add them to your library :D

If you already have songs on your pc (*.wmas *.mp3s etc) then you can just open up Active Sync - Explorer and copy and paste the songs where you want them (Id recommend somewhere lyk Storage Card - My Documents - My Music)

Hope tha helps, Wal

Orange told me to use the Track Converter in order to put the music on my phone...

Actually, scrap that - my music's playing.

Thank you!

No, I did what Wally told me to do ;).

However, it's hardly the 500-song limit advertised. I've got a memory card of 512MB and I have just 6 songs on it, and they're not really that big!

That cant be right :?:

To me songs average 5mb so 6 songs around 30mb. Is that all you have on your card or have you put a load of pictures or films on there. 6 songs should not fill the card !

I can go through my pictures and videos and see if I've got anything on there, but I seriously doubt it! And all of those songs that I've put on the card are between 3 and 4 MB!

Right, I've looked and I've got no pictures nor videos.

Argh.

I'm thinking of going into the Orange shop sometime this week but no doubt they'll turn around and say to me that I've got to go the online route, seeing as it was bought online. It's happened before :/.

Go to Start - Accessories - Task Manager ... then Menu - System Info

What does it say under the title Flash Information?

Ah, I see what's happened now.

It seems to be fine if I put it on the Storage Card. Fantastic. I was putting it in Storage, which is what someone told me to do.

Thanks very much for your help!
