Guest diveboy2 Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 I can get it all installed but when i run the tomtom it sticks on the Legal Notice screen. For some reason no matter how many times I press I agree it wont work has anyone else had this?
Guest whitestar Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) Try creating a folder named "TomTom" in the "Storage\My Documents\" folder, then copying a picture file into it. Don't know why this works, but it does. ;) Edited December 26, 2005 by whitestar
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Have you just copied the SD card onto a miniSD card? That is all you should need to do, then start the TomTom GPS up and then the application on the phone. Or have you tried installing via a cd? The solution given above is normally a cure for a tomtom update rather than using it for the first time.

Guest rcc Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 I was having difficulty installing TonTomNavigator 5 on my Audiovox/Sprint PPC 6700. When I finally got through to level 2 TomTom support they asked me to completely clean my storage card and reformat it, which I did knowing it would take a significant amount of time to rebuild the data. At that point, TomTom Level 2 tech support asked me to assure them the card was reformatted, and when I said it was,... The tech support person laughed at me, and said that TomTom DOES NOT support Navigator 5.21 on WM5 machines in the USA. He said I could write TomTom support in the UK, as they are trying this there, but it is definitely not supported. I quoted him from: http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361 but he just laughed and said not all devices are supported, and even if they are on their list of supported devices, they would absolutely not guarantee that TTNav 5 works with WM5. I now have a copy of TomTom Navigator 7 and a GPS unit, and a subscription to additional maps and subscription to TomTom Traffic with no way to use it other than to purchase another phone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Guest jesty Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Mine crashes back to the screen i started the tomtom exe file from. I get the legal disclaimer, I agree to that, then I get a blue main screen display with the welcome to tomtom mobile message. This message blinks once, then tomtom freezes and a few seconds later it bombs back to windows. I've tried this: http://www.modaco.com/Trouble_with_TomTom_...52-t233897.html (although I've just got /TomTom/picturefile and /Storage Card/My Documents/TomTom/picturefile - neither make a difference). Any other ideas why it could be so unstable?

TomTom 5 Mobile is not supported in the USA at the moment on a business level but as far as I am aware the PPC version should be. I will enquire further about this as being told to wipe your storage card and then laughing at you is not amusing and I do not think TomTom would condone this sort of behaviour from it's staff. I am a bit confused when you say you have TomTom Navigator 7 I presume this is a misprint and you mean 5? What are the actual issues you are having installing the software? Also it may be worth posting your actual problem in the PPC section as this is the Smartphone Help and Advice and the solution may be slightly different etc. This will help stop any confusion in the topics :)

I am a bit confused when you say you have TomTom Navigator 7 I presume this is a misprint and you mean 5? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, you are correct. To reiterate, I was using TomTom Navigator 5 (initially, and later overinstalling Navigator 5.21) and trying to install on a Windows Mobile 5 phone (specifically an Audiovox PPC 6700) Mostly when I enter data, I have ten friends out there.(fingers) Occasionally one of them gets a little quirky, and the data is then WRONG. Sorry. Yes, I was quite disappointed in the response of the tech, both in the unprofessional now-I-got-you-I-can-laugh-at-you attitude, and his lack of product knowledge. I have left multiple messages for Matt Konescu, who is the manager of US Customer support for TomTom, but he isn't returning phone calls about this. Edited February 2, 2006 by rcc
Guest Hitman_botelle Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 Has anyone had a problem that TomTom Crashes on their C600 phone, when you search for a POI. It is from a cold boot, so no other applications running. Program memory free over 20MB with TomTom running. TomTom Works fine in normal mode. i.e. will navigate home, navigate to favourite, worn when near POI. But if I search for a POI i.e. select brows map, find, poi, restaurant. The search screen comes up with "one moment please”, locks, and after about 5 seconds it crashes back to the home screen. (or any screen that was last up) If you look in task manager, TomTom has died. This sometimes happens when I just start Brows map. Then you have to reboot the phone for TomTom to work again, as I think it has locked up the bluetooth stack.
Guest ltn100 Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Try creating a folder named "TomTom" in the "Storage\My Documents\" folder, then copying a picture file into it. Don't know why this works, but it does. ;) This didn't quite work for me, however I put a jpg file in "\My Documents\TomTom" (the internal memory, not the storage card) and that did the trick :-)
