Guest hal3000 Posted December 26, 2005 Report Posted December 26, 2005 Hi, Using TT5 Mobile on a C500, how can I find petrol stations that are close to my current location? If I choose Navigate To-->POI, then click on petrol station, the screen says 'One Moment Please' but doesn't do anything. Some of the POI's give results, eg Airports, Railway Stations but many of the useful ones don't (such as open parking, cashpoints etc). Is this normal?

Is this normal? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ive come accross this problem on my C500 and Ive just found out what it is. It appears that TomTom comes with some default POI catergories, yet the data for the POI arent actually on the phone. The POI files are stored in the folder for the map you are using (e.g. Great-Britain-Map) The data is stored in an .ov2 file and there is a .bmp file for the POI icon. I noticed that there arent any .ov2 files for the POI that display 'One Moment Please' and fail work. So you need to get the .ov2 and .bmp files for the POI you want to use. Not all of the POI on TomTom have the corresponding .ov2 files. Thats why it displays 'One Moment Please' - because the .ov2 file isnt there and cannot be found.

Only the POIs you add yourself are in .ov2 format. I have exactly the same problem as the topic-starter. What he/she omitted though, was that the POIs that can't be selected using 'Navigate to', actually do show up on the screen when you're driving past them, and warnings (when turned on) also sound. It's just that several of the most useful categories cannot be selected via the 'Navigate to' option ,and that's a real shame. I tried my POI.DAT file (thinking it might be corrupt) on a friend's PDA and it worked like a charm. And before people start POInting fingers: I have this problem on two original maps (and obviously I tried 'unofficial' maps as well just to be sure and those exhibit the same issues). Has someone found a solution for this yet? Otherwise, please someone from TomTom, fix this in the next release!
