Guest Shrike Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 When I first got the M500 it was getting close to 6:00 hours battery life (according to the software indicator, real time obviously much longer), however this has now dropped to under 5:00. I understand the batteries do lose life over a period of time, but I've only had this for about 3 or 4 months. Any suggestions to get the life back up?
Guest zippy172 Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Work this one out then... I've had my M500 for several months now. I've recently altered my timeouts for backlight and LCD from 30 second backlight off and 2min display off to 5 min backlight off, LCD off in 10 mins and my battery life has INCREASED from roughly 6 hours on a full charge to well over 9 !!!
Guest Shrike Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 That's bizarre! I'm thinking the only thing I can do is back everything up, do a full charge and hard reset >_< which I really REALLY don't want to do!

As Zippy said, it could also be a change to a backlight setting or something that is making it show a shorter life. The remaining time shown by the plug-in varies sh*tloads for me - half the time i think it is just trying to wind me up or has a "random" setting i havent discovered yet. Its pretty poor and i only use it as a shortcut to the settings page showing the more reliable percentage bar.

Since then, It has gone back to showing about 4:30 - 5:00 hours after a full charge So expect the life to go down when you do more with your phone between calls. The available talktime from a full battery will also depend on network strength. you'll get more time in good reception, and dramatically less in a poor reception area, as more power is needed communicate. I still think the formula is flawed though, 30 minutes from a full battery would be incredibly bad. Iain

Iain <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You 're probably right, although it would be seriously dependent on how regular your usage and type of usage was... It seems so hit and miss; I had considered that it was maybe linked to current usage - open programs etc, but it didnt really seem to tie up. I'd be interested to know how it comes up with the figure as it doesnt seem reliable enough to bother considering its output as it stands....
