Hotmail email attachments

Hi,

I get many emails from friends sending me attachments. Nearly all of these e mails are to my hotmail account. But for some reason I am unable to view any attachments when sent to my hotmail account. I start wi-fi or GPRS and to get my emails. In outlook on my device it shows by the email that theres an attachment on it but when i open the email it just shows the address that it's fom and gone to plus also any text written in the email but no attachment. Now if the email was sent to my pop3 address there would be a option to download complete email in which would include the attachment, but there no option when using hotmail? Is this because hotmail is not a pop3 address? In options i have chose to download the whole email msg but again this only works for pop3 emails.
