Sp5m Joystick faulty?

I think that has been discussed a long while ago, but i've had my sp5m since mid october, and my "down" direction on my joystick is turning flaky. It doesnt always respond as well as it used to. My question is how good is the Imate warranty service? Is it hassle free? I bought it from expansys and they have like a 21 day warranty and require me to go through the manufacturer.... I understand that the joystick wears down after time, but after two months? Too soon.

Has anyone had experience with imates warranty service? Will they try to repair it or just replace the phone?

SBE are the UK service agents for imate and they are a *nightmare*....

From my own understanding of the Sale of Goods act ( I'm using a mobile device so can't quote ) the recent ( 2 years ago ish) change means that the retailer is responsible for the first 6 months of the statutory 12 month guarentee so cannot palm you off to the manufacturer's agent anymore. That said, I believe expansys use SBE anyway, but it is worth getting expansys to manage the work with SBE rather than contacting SBE directly, as then when your phone comes back in a worse condition than you sent it in you can kick off with expansys and get another phone.....

A phone this new expansys may well just swop.
