Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 HTC America have released a ROM for the Cingular 2125 the software version available for download is 1.8.42.14 Unfortunately there is no mention about what the update fixes or improves which is a shame. The really interesting part about the update page is that on that HTC America also appear to have the full version of the excellent ClearVue Suite available as a free download. For this version to work you need to have the above ROM installed on your 2125 (thanks to roma0803 for finding this out) ClearVue Software version 2.41 ClearVue provides Windows Mobile-base Pocket PC users with the ability to access important email attachments and Internet content. ClearVue views and prints Adobe Acrobat PDF files, digital images and native Microsoft Office 97-, Office 2000-, and Office XP-based PowerPoint, Excel and Word files. ClearVue is the only viewer solution needed to conduct business while on the go. For more information on the ROM and to get your copy of ClearVue suite click HERE

" So does Qtek, i got it on a cd with my Qtek 8310 ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 The difference is that this is publically available unlike the Qtek where you had to buy the phone in order to get the cd.
Guest roma0803 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Pitty though the suite does only run on Cingular phones. During install on my i-mate SP5m I get a message I need to update my ROM first. Oh well, it was to good to be true ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Thanks for the update I will edit the first post accordingly ;)
Guest trevormuk Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 (edited) I believe the Cingular 2125 is the same as the C600. Should be ok to put this new ROM on to the C600? As it is from HTC I am guessing it will be "pure" no branding etc ... like the Orange ROM Is there an easy way of backing up my Orange ROM, before I try it?? Thanks Edited December 31, 2005 by trevormuk
Guest leoiden Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 how about using this rom on a smt 5600 with wm5 on it .i tried it but get connection error but it seems like it almost goes through hahah!!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Don't forget playing with ROMs can be dangerous and could leave you with a nice paperweight.
Guest leoiden Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Don't forget playing with ROMs can be dangerous and could leave you with a nice paperweight. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes youre right but i am not new to modding phones and being able to recover them , its not the first time and it wotn be the last ,its always exciting to get the most out of you cellphone especially when the manufacture limits you to what you can do with your own cellphone!!!! ;) :D :D
Guest trevormuk Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Is there an easy way to back up the ROM on C600? I was quite happy changing the ROM on the my C500 as I knew I could rely on an available download ofthe Orange ROM. As far as I know there is no Orange download available for the C600?? Any help would be appreciated Cheers
Guest pierre Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 I would not mind upgrading my C500 as well. Orange Switzerland never provided any upgrade since launch of the phone! ;)
Guest trevormuk Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 Upgrading the C500 is quite straight forward, and there are quite a few different ROMS to choose from. Also as the C500 is in hardware terms the same as the QTEK and the Imate there is less chance of there being a problem. The problem I have is the C600 (Faraday) only has the Cingular as a direct relative. The SP5 and SP5M are on the face of it quite different. Does any know where I can get the Orange ROM, just in case the Cingular ROM doesn't work and I need to put the Orange one back on?? HTH and hope some one can help Cheers T

Guest trevormuk Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Surely you've answered your own question here.... ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure I have ... Is there an Orange ROM available for the C600, which I can rely on to go back to if the Cincular ROM doesn't work, or I mess up? If there is an Orange ROM for the C600, where can I download it? Cheers
