xbox live worth it?

still using the old xbox and thinking of buying xbox live. Was wondering if it was worth getting it? Do people still go on Live on older games?

My current Live Enabled games are:

PGR2

Splinter Cell 2 and 3

Black Hawk Down

Counter Strike 2 Summit Strike

NFS Underground 2

I can't really speak for any of them games since I don't have them but I never have any problems finding xbox live games and for what ends up being $5 a month its a steal..

But will I struggle to find opponents on xbox games? Argos is offering a 12month subscription and starter kit for £20.00

Mmm - I gotta ask...

If we take out the £20 deal with Argos, for Xbox Live,

ca we then easily convert it to a Gold Membership for Xbox 360, and that way save on the normal £39.99 cost?

I wish Paul was around to spot this thread, he would likely know about upgrading old Xbox Live Subs to Xbox 360.

EDIT...

It WILL work.. but with one caveat...

You need to set it up on an Original Xbox (no problem for me there), then use the new 360 to convert across your Gamertag, and it will see out the remainder (i.e. all 12 months) of your existing subscription, at no extra cost...

Alas, as I already have my Gamertag set up on the 360, this will mean I will need to create a new one.

Unless anyone has any better ideas as to what I am missing...?
