Transferring a movie to my smartphone

I want to watch a movie on my audiovox 5600. I transfer the movie from my computer (windows media player format?) to my phone using active sync. I save the movie to my storage card, but when I go to watch the movie, all I have is the text document and no movie to play. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong (or that I am missing)? Thank you,

assuming you mean wmv convert the file to avi using pocketdivxconverter http://download.ppccool.com/PocketDivXEncoder_v0.3.50.exe

and play it using tcpmphttp://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/370/tcpmp.smartphone.0.71.exe

its the best player around.

tcpmp can play wmvs but you might want to download the plugin
