hard reset doesn't work - smt5600 phone won't boot

Yesterday my smt5600 was stuck frozen on the home screen, in key pad lock mode. Wouldn't do a thing, not even power down. Took the battery out and let it sit. Put the battery in and tried to turn it on. Getting the audiovox screen, then it goes to the blue Windows Mobile screen (I don't normally see this screen, I think). It sits and hangs there. Tried a hard reset, but can't get it going either (no black screen with the 0 option or anything -goes right to blue win mobile). Battery is fully charged.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Tina

Chances are you are not quite getting the hard reset correct, it takes practise to get it right ;)

Have a look at this guide here for performing a hard reset.

Do not have the phone plugged in to the computer when you do the hardreset.

I got to the "press 0" by not holing the power button for as long as I had, but it still sits at the Windows screen after pressing 0 and doesn't go any further. Now what?

(thank you for your time - this is very helpful)

same thing happened to me, and even if i reflashed the phone with the new cingular rom image, i was getting "data crashes" after windows booted. turns out the IMIE memory block of my phone had gotten totally corrupted and the only way to fix it was using the imei-check website which reprogrammed all that for me.

i would try to go to www.spv-developers.com and read about reflashing the phone, ALSO read up on backing up to see if you can salvage any settings before totally redoing your phone.
