Completely disable backlight. Is it possible?

I'm trying to completely disable the backlight...

In case the term isn't quite clear, it's the timeout set in the following key: HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\

Basically, I don't want it to be on at all, since the backlight is insanely bright and very annoying in places like movie theatres where it lights up the entire place.

The mode that it goes into after the backlight is turned off, but before the screen is turned off is the perfect brightness for me.

I was able to accomplish this to a point by adding the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\On

"bkl1:"=dword:4

This works by putting the backlight into a power saving mode (from what I understand). However, once the screen goes out it won't come back on again :-)

NOTE: IF YOU MESS WITH THESE KEYS, YOU MAY HAVE TO HARD RESET YOUR PHONE. I've had to about 3 or 4 times so far.

Anybody know how to get it to stay off for good?
