It is has to say the image which one sees as soon as one lights the telephone (orange logo) Currently I prepare detailed tuto for that but if you are impatient to change it your, send to me a mail with the image which you wish and the version of your such (C600, imateSP5, imateSP5m etc...) and I will send to you the update personalized for your smartphone.

Preferably an image with the format 240x320 and can imports the format (GIF, bmp, jpg etc.) If not the tuto will be ready within one week...

And also title of information has I also succeeded has to even modify the ROM (OS) in it, it is has to say to modify some files and to recompute the checksum for the ROM one is OK in update but I prefer to still await some tests before giving the manipulation has to make. Veiled... hope of it that my tuto will interest some people

I'll do my best. (Note that I haven't done this myself, just trying to help with the translation)

You will need some tools:

SPLASH SCREEN TO CHANGE

NBFTYPHOONTOOL V0.4

UPDATE SP5 Of IMATE

WINHEX (the version demo is enough)

WINRAR (the version demo is enough)"

(Look at titi366's link for download links for these tools, and for step-by step pictures)

"...

CAUTION

The update of the ROM modifies only the "bootscreen". You do not lose anything else with your current configuration – i.e. the update modifies only the part "SPLASH.nb" - all the rest stays the same on your phone.

Bear in mind, the tools used in this tutorial can also be used for "heavy" modifications to your phone, hence it is advisable to strictly respect the method below under risk of wrecking your phone. The authors and interpreters cannot be held responsible for an unspecified deterioration of operation of your phone. You are strongly advised to proceed to flash your smartphone if you understand the actions/implications generated by this tutorial.

Beginning of the tutorial:

1. Download from i-mate the WWE ROM for your SP5/SP5m (e.g. i-mate_SP5_WWE_1.5.331.4.exe). Extract the .exe file using winrar like below. NOTE: if your winrar does not directly propose to decompress the file, make a copy of the file and rename it .rar first and then extract/ decompress it.

2 From the decompressed contents of the .exe file, find NK.NBF and open it using typhoon NBF tool. Right-click on the line "splash screen" then click on "dump decrypted" then save the file splash screen.n_b where you wish it.

3 Now we will prepare your image using tool SPLASH SCREEN TO CHANGE. Click on "Load..." then select the image desired, and then click on "save.nb" and save the file with the extension .nb (e.g. “bootscreen.nb”) and close the program.

4 Launch WINHEX and open your file "bootscreen.nb" then the file "splash_screen.n_b" obtained with NBFTYPHOONTOOL.

In the Splash_screen.n_b window highlight using the mouse like below, the part of “offset 00” with the offset 0000001D, then key CTRL+C to copy.

5 Switch to the window “bootscreen.nb” then key F6, choose "editable mode". Now make sure the cursor is located at offset 00 and key "CTRL+V" to paste, see below.

6. In the window “Splash Screen.n_b” go to the offset 0002581E then right- click and select "beginning of block"

7. In the same window go to the bottom to last offset "0002FFFF" then a right- click "end of block". Then copy (by keying CTRL+C)

8. Switch to the window "bootscreen.nb" and paste the block to the offset 0002581E (CTRL+V). Before saving your modified file check its size. The file must be 196 608 bytes exactly. If it is, save your file then exit WINHEX. The hardest part is done. Be brave - almost finished!

9 Now we will create the final file for the update with the tool NB2NBF V.02. For that we need to fill-in various necessary information like below. Tick/check “File #1” then browse to your file "bootscreen.nb" created with winhex..

10 Finally switch to the file "i-mate_SP5_WWE_1.5.331.4" which you obtained by decompressing the update, then place in there (add to the archive), the file "NK.NBF" that you have just created with NB2NBF. If you named it nk.nbf it will overwrite the original. Launch the update (ROMUpdateUtility.exe) and follow the instructions.

The update takes less than a minute then the telephone will start again with your new bootscreen!!!

OK, I've had a go with this and run into a couple of problems...

1. "TyphoonNbfTool" needs rapi.dll and ceutil.dll. These can be found easily using Google.

titi366 means "Splash Screen.n_d" when he writes ""Splash Screen.n_b"

That's not the problem.

The big problem is that the rom update utility fails half way through the process complaining that you have the "wrong vendor ID".

Oh Well - 45 mins wasted and a phone I have to re-flash from the beginning to get it to reboot. Could be worse I suppose.
