Guest b0bby Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) 1st issue... picture viewer im dont understand this picture video viewer on my imate sp5. every time i load it up it defaults to my documents. but i use my storage card for all my media. i can change folder but its a pain. the multimedia album on my c500 was great its layout was better it had tree style folder selection. and it remembered which folder i last viewed. 2nd issue... contact default. i keep relating to my c500 but on its contact list i used 2 b able 2 set the default contact method 4 a contact entry. it was on the right menu. my new sp5 doesnt have this. soom of my entries have txt as the default, if i press the green cal button from the main contact page it throws me 2 the call log screen. so i have 2 go into a contact 2 make a call. i hope theyv just moved the make default option. i love this phone but somethings seem 2 have gone backwards. :/ realy appreciate comments. taken me 15 mins 2 write this on my phone. lol rob Edited January 3, 2006 by b0bby
Guest looeee Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 1) Yeah, I feel the same. What a rubbish application. I posted this a little while ago, it may help 2) I hadn't noticed this, I agree its rubbish. In the main contacts window you can use left and right to change the default way of contacting ppl but if you choose anything other than a number you get the call log screen. This one has to be a bug, so lets hope it gets fixed. looeee
Guest b0bby Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Thanks so much looeee Thats perfect. im going to copy the album files off my c500 tonight. It seems stupid that you can rotate, crop and use autocorrect but you cant even zoom/pan easily. Stupid microsoft.
Guest Tech Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 if you dont like the software - dont use it. there are some tweaks on the net if you look hard enough to overcome the problem you have. remember - the software was based on the requests from customers.
Guest alinkent Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 b0bby: Wow...ONLY 15 minutes to tap all that out on your phone? I can't even type that fast on my laptop! Issue 1 - Unfortunately the path is hardcoded into the app's API, so you can't change the initial directory. That path is also hardcoded into the camera app which is why you see the "Camera" link in that folder. Changing it wouldn't be easy or desirable unless you have lots of free time and a working knowledge of Visual Studio and C++. Issue 2 - Open your contact list and highlight a contact. Now use the stick to navigate right or left. That action changes the table entry on the far right of your screen. You can scroll through all available contact mehtods for the selected contact using the stick. When you find the method you want to set as default, move the stick down or up to another contact. Whatever you leave the table entry on becomes your default contact method for that person. This actually makes it easier to set defaults by eliminating multiple soft-key presses. Hope that helps you a little.
Guest Killian Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 You can copy the album file across you just have to run it manually. Alinkent is right, the default browser is hardcoded in so there's no way to alter that, you can run the other version though by manually starting the .exe through file explorer. Thats the way I do it because the new one is really bad, I don't know what customers asked for the browser to be changed but whoever they were they need shooting! ;)
Guest looeee Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 remember - the software was based on the requests from customers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think that is true. The album software in the spv classic / e100 was made by AI. HTC bought AI and used newer versions of AIalbum in the e200, c500, c550. With WM5 we have Microsoft's FIRST version of their NEW album program, which has some features that were not in AIAlbum but is unfortunately missing much of the usability of it too. What you have described above is correct, but if you set your default to anything other than a phone number (e.g. sms, email) then when you push the green button it does not take you to the correct place (new sms/email to that contact) as it used to in smartphone 2002, 2003 and 2003se. looeee
Guest alinkent Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Understood the point and it works as intended. Set contact default to email and on click it opens messaging application. Do you mean it's annoying that you have to click twice? I think you're missing the point here mate. What you have described above is correct, but if you set your default to anything other than a phone number (e.g. sms, email) then when you push the green button it does not take you to the correct place (new sms/email to that contact) as it used to in smartphone 2002, 2003 and 2003se. looeee <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest looeee Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 not talking about clicking ... talking about pushing the green call button

Thanks for the tip on copying the file over from the old c500. One thing though...i have a problem activating the soft keys when I run the album.exe file over on my sp5. Do you guys have the same problem too or is it just my phone?
Guest b0bby Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) looeee understands correctly. its the green call button - i did say that in my first post, try it, both me and my brother have the sp5 both do the same. if its set to email/txt or something none numeric it loads up the call log. really i should do what "alinkent" said. like it used to do on the c500 start a new SMS or email. I'm sure they did on some occasions but they never do for me anymore. I still prefer it to the default one though.

That's a bit of a bummer really coz i keep my pics on the storage card and cant access it as a folder on the old picture program...but youre right about the ability to zoom in and out easily, and also to customize how you wanna view the pics...sigh. Gotta hope something just as good is available 3rd party then!
