As no-one seems to have answered you, I can offer this; I have a new 3 series BMW with built in Bluetooth handsfree and it works perfectly with my sp5. Contacts synchronise and it identifies incoming calls. I can use the steering wheel buttons to make and receive calls. I imagine the kit is the same in the 5 series, but I cannot be sure. Hope that helps in some way.

That's strange - i have an SP5, and it refuses to talk to my bluetooth 3-series (2003) - can I ask when you bought yours, and what version your sp5 is?

Yes, I have a 8310 and have successfully paired my phone with with both the new 5 & 7 series at work, haven't tried the new 3 series but should work the same.

Phone book contacts loaded with no problems.
