Guest FrankyG Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Does anyone with an Orange (UK) M5000 use MMS successfully? I've tried the settings listed elsewhere on the forum but can't get MMS to send or receive. Is there anything I'm missing?! In the connections tab, I have two connection groups - Orange World and 'My Work Network'. In the Orange World group, the following modems are listed; Auto pick Orange WAP Orange MMS Orange GPRS WAP Orange GPRS internet The Orange MMS uses orangemms as the APN, user name and password are blank. By default, Orange GPRS internet is selected, should this still be ok for sending MMS? Internet access works ok. In the MMS configuration page, servers tab, the gateway is 192.168.224.10, port 9201 server address is http://mms.orange.co.uk/ connect via=Orange World, wap version 2.0. I have tried changing the connect via setting to Orange MMS, the internet, the wap network...nothing seems to work! Can anyone shed any light on this one? I definately have MMS on my account. Many thanks.. ;)
Guest Jasonkruys Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I take it you saw my reply in the 'other' forum? ;)

Guest fr3ak Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I was really impressed wit Jasonkruys' reply - most helpful - NOT! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Glad to be of service. And yes, it was a terribly helpful reply from Jasonkruys was it not? Ah well eh? F.
Guest Jasonkruys Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I do apologise. I had answered the question to the same individual elsewhere, and really didn't have time to type it all out again! I had to get to work ;)
Guest Confucious Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 So long as you are sufficiantly contrite and have beatn yourself up over it we'll say no more about it ;) I was waiting for someone to answer the orriginal question and when I saw your reply I was a bit dissapointd especially as there was no link to your reply but I do know what it's like . At least you bothered to answer the question, even if it wasn't on the 'best' forum :D
Guest FrankyG Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Hmmm. You're not permitted to mention the 'other' forum, pity, as I personally find it contains a wealth of advanced information which you just don't find on here. Not knocking Modaco at all, it's just a different target audience I think. Anyways, everyone got their MMS working ? Gooooood....
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Slightly OT.... Does anyone have the CAB from their M5000 that installs the MMS Inbox etc? I have a Dopod 818 Pro, and haven't installed the junk they supply - but I can't find the MMS CAB
Guest FuzzyDweeb Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) Hi, I have an O2 XDA Mini S (Much the same as the SPV M3000/5000 in terms of MMS setup etc.) but set it up with the corporate settings to get rid of all the O2 junk to speed it up if anything. My question is after leaving O2 PAYG when I found out that I could not get GPRS internet on PAYG with them (only GSM dialup!), I switched to Orange PAYG sim (which does have GPRS Internet) and popped it into this device. After my initial surprise that this O2 branded device was unlocked anyway it seemed hehe, I got everything working via Orange GPRS etc. except for MMS!!!. I have tried ALL settings from everywhere (and now have the ones above exactly as written)... I HAVE tripple cheched with Orange that my SIM is MMS ready/enabled and did recieve the sim update (they even gave me 30 free standard MMS's for my trouble - but I cannot use them - doh!). Now although I can actually connect to Orange MMS over GPRS (Orange data team can see my MMS connection attempts their end), when sending a test MMS to anybody (including myself) it tries to send but fails and just stores the MMS in the outbox/drafts and gives up?. Orange on what seemed like my 100'millionth phonecall to data services yesterday have given up and told me that my device is blocked at the Orange MMS Server as an alien device on their network being an O2 device but with an Orange sim in it. My answer to that is although I very much doubt it ;) there must be something going on that nobody has yet covered here or anywhere I've since found on the net anyway?. I read that the MMS cab install is required - but oddly enough when I installed corp settings on my mini to get rid of the O2 crap, my MMS folder was there already!!! so I dont need that at least by the sounds of it and again I dont think that is the answer - well not in my case at least. Finally, I also agree with a previous post that it is more likely to be the MMS client software on this device that is crud - but I have run out of ideas and it 'really' ;) annoys me having a device that can almost everthing but not the MMS on Orange (so far anyway!). I don't give up easy but I'm kind of thinking of giving up soon to buy a sim free Nokia N80 as soon as it out over here in UK - but I even wonder if Orange MMS will work on that hehe as it does seem a bit cheese overall compared to O2's PAYG offering (which at least worked on my O2 Mini even if GPRS Internet did'nt). All crazy of course, but can anybody help who may have exactly the same prob on O2 XDA Mini S with Orange PAYG Sim?. Bit long for a first post but I wanted to make sure I got everything in to maybe help others also with same/similar problem. FuzzyDweeb P.S. I had to tell Orange customer support that I have an Orange SPV M3000 which is much the same device as O2 Mini S 'just to get them to talk to me' and they don't even sell that device in the UK only SPV M5000 heh!. Guest Confucious Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 It should work (I use an O2 Exec on Orange) - The only thing I can sugest is trying Port 9201 instead of 8800. Good luck

Good luck <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, I have tried port 9201 and 8080 (I think you meant that one really ;) Orange data service recommend 8080 but no it still does not work :/ Mad init ;) Thanks for the effort tho ok!.
