Guest spvc500 Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006  All my ring tones fail to work except the "Windows Default", the files are still there and work when played in a media player. Help !
Guest chucky.egg Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 OK, can we have a bit more information... What format are your ringtones in? (MP3, WAV, WMA, MID etc) Have they ever worked? Where are you putting them? Do they show up in the list when you go to change your ringtone? Also, what device do you have? (this is the PocketPC part of the forums, but your username implies you have a Smartphone)

Guest chucky.egg Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Ah, OK. I have an M500 too Ringtones (as opposed to SMS tones) need to go into \Windows\Rings, but I guess you already know that if they appear in the list. Some stuff to try: 1) Have you checked daft stuff like your ring volume? (and check PPCProfiles too if you use that - it overrides the default notification settings) 2) If you set the phone to "Vibrate and Ring", and then ring your own number, does the phone vibrate but make no sound? or does it play the wrong ringtone? what happens? 3) When you select the WAV file in the list can you preview it? (press the Play button under the "Ring tone" selection) and can you hear the ringtone then?

I've tried a hard reset and the ring tones that came with the phone all work. When I restore the data I've backed-up they stop working. I guess I'll have to do another hard reset at the weekend and restore my stuff a bit at a time. Well thats my weekend taken care of , unless you can wave a magic wand !
