Hi,

I have successfully installed SPB weather; I have used weather.com to add cities in the UK and even tried another template for BBC weather. I cannot get it to d/l the weather to display on the home screen. All it says is 'Weather data not available'.

Under my sync settings I have it set to update when docked update after city added and automatic update every hour. No joy. The stats show no gprs usage either. Manual seems a waste of time as I cannot figure out how to manually sync it.

I have asked spb but await a response from them.

Can anyone help???

Ta.

Haven't tried it on my Wizard, but have it on my work pocket pc.

It doesn't seem to pick up on an available internet connection by itself.

After you've tried to make it manually sync, go to IE and browse to a webpage.

Then go back to the today screen and try again to make it manually sync.

Once it's done it once it should carry on using that connection.

It bugs out when the connection changes, in my case, docked via the work network,

or at home using wifi to connect via my router.

got it to work without a hiccup on the compact II, but havent tried it on the wizard.... since both are WM5 devices hence cant see any reason why it wont work.

I've installed it and it's showing "weather data is not ready". ;)

You'll find the manual sync option if you click and hold the city name in the today screen,

clicking moves through the cities you've selected to view.

Normally when you do a manual sync (or an automated one is running) the icon on the today screen animates to show it's doing something,

but sadly it's not working on my o2 XDA Mini S.

Hope you have better luck with yours.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. How can you force it to manually sync? Do you just select the manual sync option radio button or is there another way?

Oh, interesting.

It's always annoyed me that it can't create a connection by itself. Seems like a daft way to cripple the app to me.

Anyone found a UK source for weather updates? Weather.com seems to lump large areas of the country together, I'm hoping for some more specific forecasts.

I used a BBC template that someone had created and shared in the SPB forums.

Don't have the link at home, sorry.

More recently though I switched back to just using the Weather.com ones,

as they're 7 day etc.

apologies, edited my post above to include that bit after I read your post again.

Thanks for the BBC template!

I didn't realise it just ripped the data off the web pages, I always assumed that it queried some database "legitimately". ;)

Glad I could finally give something back to the forums.

Something else noted on the SPB Weather forums to watch out for.

The BBC site displays international cities in a different way to UK towns,

so I think, from memory, that template only works with City codes.

Just trying to get this one working on my Wizard now:

http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDet...d=90929&R=90929

I've emailed the author as it's not picking up anything from my Outlook contacts... yet.

I looked at that yesterday, but in the end I decided just to get Outlook to create the appointments in my calendar and sync them

There's two bits of software out there called Birthday Plus,

I reckon you might be on about the other one,

which you actually enter birthdays into.

The one I downloaded is supposed to take the info from your Outlook data,

all it does is show you upcoming birthdays / anniversaries.

The normal Outlook calendar Today screen bit only shows birthdays on the day.

If you download the attachment in my previous post it mentions about that quirk and has a solution for it!

Does anybody know how to edit the templates for SPB weather. I'd like to see if I can get the weather info from metcheck.com.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anybody got the wind direction working with the BBC template?

I've downloaded the bbc template, but the instructions in the Readme all relate to version 1.2. Anyone set it up on 1.3.5?

If so would you care to share how you did it as 1.3.5 seems to be a lot different to 1.2

I installed 1.2, tell me where you got this newer version and I will give it a go.

Weird,

If I check About from the program, it says 1.3.5, yet according to the Spb site the current release is 1.6 ( I only downloaded a couple of weeks ago!) and 1.3.5 doesn't exist in the release history :)

Just realised. 1.3.5 is the special build for PLUS members, hence the difference (and it differs a lot). So I guess it can't be done.
