Guest bocsta Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) Is it a operator option available from HTC ? Can someone clarify wifi on these models: No WiFi: Orange C600 T Mobile SDAII (Why did the op's not take the WiFi option apart from cost?) WiFi: Imate SP5 Imate SP5m Qtek 8300 - ??? Qtek 8310 - ??? And the primary question, anyone picked up a SP5 or SP5M for free on a £25-£30pm new contract ? If so, where? Edited January 6, 2006 by bocsta
Guest banzaixb Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Qtek 8310/8300 has Wifi to ;) Qtek and Imate is the same hardware, because HTC made them, imate and qtek are just selling them with there own name on.

Guest mrkipling Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Does anyone know if the 02 contracts for the sp5 on phones2udirect are 18 month ?
Guest AlexP Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 I'm sure that the wifi hardware exists on the phone but the rom doesn't have the drivers to run it, if you browse the windows folder you will find all the wifi utill files in there, i sure someone can confirm this and maybe it will be a future add on with a new rom update. ;)
Guest Tech Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 imate sp5 and sp5m have wifi - I have the device C600 has NO wifi - nor will it ever regardless what people say - there is NO wifi on the device

Guest rsearley Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Unless you get a SD-mini with wifi ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The mini-sd wifi cards i have seen so far still need a top loading slot so the antenna can project, and would not fit in the back slot on the SP% also nowhere yet have i read that the slot on the the sp5 is sdio or that it has sdio-now drivers installed!!
Guest Peppermint Hippo Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 SDAII isn't a Tornado either.....its a Hurricane (i think) wearing a Tornado suit ;)
Guest iflya Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Spectec's Mini SD WLAN card is small enough to fit, and it says in the Tech Data that WM5 does support it ... Just need to hear from someone to say the card does work, then i'm going to splash out on one! E : )

Guest majorjam Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 i understand that the c600 does have wifi part (most of which is intergrated into omap850 cpu) but it has been 'hardware disabled' because orange are paranoid about losing out on gprs/3g , same reason there not adopting qtek9100 ppc
Guest Ingvarr Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) OMAP 850 does not have a "built-in WiFi". It only have support to work with (separate) wifi chip/infrastructure for it. C600 lacks both, but hey, its of smaller size because of that. Why to buy C600 if it have no wifi, but you need it in first place? Edited January 19, 2006 by Ingvarr
