Spelling of 'Media Center' really bugs me!

Bizarre. I pop to PCW ( aaargh) yesterday to pick up an HP Pavillion Media Centre (sic) for someone and today there's a media center section on modaco.

This Pavillion looks great - removable storage bay ( usb B conector inside), ipod dock / camera dock in the top, and the software looks a lot better than it did the first time I installed it from my select pack a year or so ago. A bit pricey though, pentium d, 200gb HDD, 1gb ram, only 1 dvdr drive, £1069 w/ 19" 'xerox' monitor but that's PCW for you.

They had an Advent media centre (sic) for about £449 with no monitor, and another with a 27" lcd for £1099 which looked ok as the machine was styled more as a dvd player.

Everywhere instore though it's written as media centre. Which is what I prefer. I know it's a trade name but couldn't they have done a UK version just for us?.... ;)

Now he's just got to wait for Amazon to pull their finger out and deliver his xbox 360. Last updat was delivery between the 27th dec and 3rd jan. Nothing yet

Yeah, it;s the sort of thing that makes you think Microsoft has a plan for home media integration rather than it just being a happy accident :D

Next on the list is getting his SP5m to browse the network and stram mp3's to media player over wifi.

Built my media center in an Athlon 64 ideq box from Biostar as it has an in-built IR receiver :D

Never fitted a DVB TV tuner to mine but from the HP setup menu it does list it as an option - any known to work with it? And will the EPG work correctly?

I've got a USB one kicking about I might try with this HP.

Something he asked me as well, what about recording from Sky - he's got a sky plus already but wants to be able to stream to other plasmas. Using the built in IR transmitter will it load an EPG and switch the skybox over like a Tivo does, or do you have to leave the skybox on the right channel and do a timer recording?
