Guest fluffcat1 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 From Vodacom's website: http://www.vodacom.co.za/packages/blackberry/roaming.jsp Receiving e-mail on your BlackBerry® when travelling abroad You will be able to send and receive e-mails when you travel to countries where Vodacom has GPRS roaming agreements. Some countries do not allow devices with 3-DES encryption and Vodacom cannot be held liable in the unfortunate event of confiscation of your BlackBerry device. Therefore before you travel abroad, be sure that you enquire from Vodacom Customer Care (dial 082 155 free from your Vodacom cellphone) whether your BlackBerry device will be allowed into the country you’ll be visiting. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've *never* heard of that before! I know the US has legislation regarding encryption technology in software for export out of the US, but which countries do you have to be careful taking a blackberry enabled device into? And how exactly would they know LOL! If vodacom have a disclaimer on their site they're just covering their ass, but has it ever happened? China's my likely bet if it has.... Richard
Guest Pondrew Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I would've said China too. There are some wierd things outlawed abroad. In Canada the main ingredient in Red Bull, taurine, is legislated against! Apparently Red Bull intended for Canada is made WITHOUT the taurine!
Guest fluffcat1 Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I would've said China too. There are some wierd things outlawed abroad. Wifi for one thing.... In Canada the main ingredient in Red Bull, taurine, is legislated against! Apparently Red Bull intended for Canada is made WITHOUT the taurine! Not just Canada. Taurine is 2-aminoethanesulphonic acid and is widely believed to enhance the effects of caffene, although Red Bull haven't ever produced any reports to prove this, and some medical journals believe it has no real effect int eh Red Bull drink. Taurine also aids digestion. Nevertheless the UK level is roughly half that in the stuff I was getting in Austria around 1993 mit Team Sauber Formel Eins, before it was launched in the UK. No reason has been given, but some shops won't sell to kids under 16 near me either. Richard
