Hi all,

I hope some kind soul can help. Having just returned to Windows Mobile after the original SPV years ago i'm really pleased to see how far my C600 has improved upon the original. I do have a few VERY simple questions, the answers to which I have been unable to find.

1 - Is there a way to reverse the default contacts view to FIRST NAME, LAST NAME? Sorted

2 - How can I use my own Midi/MP3 files for the SMS and Alarm tones? Doh! Sorted, sorry!

3 - Where can I find the default (blue, Mac OS-a-like) wallpaper on my smartphone?

4 - I would really like to use the standard wireless homescreen theme, but with smaller (static if poss?) shortcut icons at the top and my tasks listed elsewhere on the screen. I know its a big ask, but is this possible somehow?! I see that i'll have to dabble in XML. Still not sure on making the MRU icons smaller though?

5 - I'd love the right shortcut key hack to "New SMS" to work, but the cab provided in the sticky in this forum doesn't work. I've installed it and rebooted the phone but still nothing. Fixed

6 - Last but certainly not least, I would like to decertify my phone but can only see instructions for the HTC/Qtek devices. Is this because the C600 is already app unlocked? Done. The bit about using your own certificates confused me (and probably 90% of new SPV users!)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

-Omar

You can probably steal some xml from the Facade forums. Download one of these HOMESCREENS and see how the application bar was handled.

By the way, what was your fix for the LAST NAME, FIRST NAME deal?

I can't answer them all but I can answer a few;

1, I don't know of a faster way but on every contact, if you scroll down enough, you'll find a 'File as' option which will be set to 'Forename, Surname', try changing that. If that doesn't work after a reset then I heard of a method on outlook, I think you have to change how they are filed on there but I can't remember how.

2, Just having the mp3 files or midi files anywhere on the device should allow them to be selected as the reminder tone but unfortunately they can't be used as sms tones. Sms tones have to be .wav's. You can find some software online that will convert tracks but your better off cutting the song up and just converting the piece you want. Wav's are massive compared to the originals!

3, The mac os is on the downloads sections on here I think, try looking there.

5, Doesnt the right soft key automatically change to new sms when you actually recieve one? Or are you on about something else entirely?

6, The unlocking method works on my sp5 but not sure about the C600, should do though. This is the link you need

You need to copy the regedit .zip across to your phone as it wont let you copy the .exe. Just modify the policies it says to match what it says. The file extensions aren't identical but you can figure it out if you try hard enough. Just make sure you back up the registry first!

Hope some of that helps!
