Guest newtonmj Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Hi everyone, Well, that'll teach me to be 'out of the loop' for a while - I hadn't realised TomTom have released the 5.20 patch to enable TTM5 to work on the C600 (et al). So, I went the 'messy' route of installing TTQVGA (having successfully app unlocked the phone first) however when I ran TTQVA it rebooted the phone (resluting in the large icons everyone sees) yet it didn't start TT. I manually ran TT, saw it was working fine (full screen etc) however given I manually ran it when I exited I'm left with the big icons. No matter how I run TTQVGA now it doesn't want to play ball - it either just reboots as above or says 'failed to start launcher'. So, now I'm in the position of wanting to get back to my 'default' screen setting and am assuming that the HKLM>Drivers>Display>GPE>LogicalPixelsX and LogicalPixelsY are what I need to tweak. Mine are presently set at 138 (both)... would anyone be so kind as to tell me waht their (default) settings are? Finger's crossed this sorts it.. If not, what's my best course of action? Some form of hard reset? Will it lose my Orange-specific stuff? (I'm still under my 7-day trial period... yeah I know - shouldn't have messed around with it so much!). Cheers, Mathew
Guest newtonmj Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Aha... I found another post which implied it both settings default at 131.... and thankfully they evidently do! Still don't know why TTQVGA wouldn't start TT... still, I'll go fetch the patch now so it's probably a moot point. Mathew
Guest newtonmj Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 (edited) Aha... for what's it's worth I also found out why TTQVGA wouldn't start TomTom... When it installs itself into \Storage Card\TomTom\ as TTQVGA.exe you also need to make sure the Data.chk and Navigator.cfg TT files are in their too (surprisingly I'd messed around with mine! :D). Then everything works fine. Must try and refrain from messing around with things I don't understand... ;) Mathew (Incidentally, if anyone's interested it takes TTQVGA 1m20s to reboot the C600 and get TT up-and-running, similarly it takes 1m10s once TT is closed to reboot and return the phone to 'fully active' (i.e. the homescreen appears after 45s but it takes a further 25s for the battery info and time/date to appear)). Guest peekie Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 you do not need the ttqvga application anymore as the update from tomtom works perfectly . to remove it use smart explorer or use the computer to delete the file from the location you stored it and also the shortcut you may have made ;)
Guest newtonmj Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 (edited) Of course - it's just that as I mentioned above it was the receipt of my C600 that brought me back to these forums and I dived into the whole TTQVGA workaround... it was only after some further digging did I discover the 5.20 patch! Still, I learnt something along the way... (not to go messin' without doing the proper research!) Mathew P.S. Incidentally, it's better to use the 'Remove Programs' function as opposed to just removing shortcuts/executables - you never know what else might've be hanging around (although in this case I think that was everything). Guest peekie Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 of course it is better to use the add remove function , but the verion i had did not have that option as it was a copy to phone exe , with wm5 even installing items does not always leave an uninstall option in the phone , lucky that the option in active sync has it , if you can sync the phone but thats another story ;)
