Guest norcal11 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 i am brand new here and have had my smt5600 for about a month. i was wondering if it was possible to use songs or other sound files as ringtones. do you have to put the songs in a certain folder to be able to use them as a ringtone? any help would be great. thanks.
Guest phrmctcls Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Yes, you can use songs (mp3=yes, wav=i think so) as ringtones. I would recommend using only a 20-30 sec clip of an mp3 for your ringtone, it takes up less space on the memory (by-the-way, to use mp3s as ringtones you have to store them on the phone's memory, not the memory card). I usually get a 30 sec clip of a song, you can do this by cutting up one of your own mp3s or downloading a 30 sec sample from almost anywhere. Then connect your phone to your computer (I prefer usb over bluetooth for this). Move the mp3/sound/noise/etc to storage>application data>sounds. Then on your phone, go to start>settings>sounds and choose the sound you want. For more info, search this site. People here have written great instructions, it just takes a little time to find them. Also search this site for sounds. There are some great ones here.
