Guest chucky.egg Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 (edited) I've been using the same ringtone and message alerts for ages now, but something has obviously changed recently. As of Friday when my phone receives an SMS it shows it in the Messaging plugin on the Today screen, but doesn't "ring" or vibrate. The file is still there in \Windows, and it plays in the preview in both "Sounds & Notifications" and in PPCProfiles Pro. I can also play it in TCPMP. I've tried: Disabling PPCProfiles Pro Changing the alert (it wont play ANY notification sound, not just mine) Changing the notifications in both "Sounds & Notifications" and PPCPPro Deleting ALL the SMS messages in the phone After that I ran out of things to try. The only recent software additions have been Reverse (game) and Spb Finance I'm stuck, so any advice would be much appreciated. I've attached the WAV file so you can try it, just to make sure I'm not being really dense.R2D2_short_PCM.wav Edited January 7, 2006 by chucky.egg

Guest chucky.egg Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Yeah, PPC Profiles Pro, but I think I've ruled that out. I'm just going to try sending myself an MMS and see if the notification for that goes off. I've only ever used MS once, so wish me luck!

Guest chucky.egg Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Thanks, but no. PPC Profiles Pro is still uninstalled and I'm getting no notifications of messages at all. Have also uninstalled TCPMP, because I recall some issue with File Associations in that messing something up on the Smartphone. Still nothing! :-k

Guest chucky.egg Posted January 8, 2006 Report Posted January 8, 2006 Sorry mate, didn't mean any offence by that - the bl00dy thing has got me somewhat short-tempered! I did appreciate your help, and FWIW I think the Profile issue probably was the cause I can't be certain, but I have a feeling that it got screwed when I set the phone to Silent mode without using PPC Profiles Pro. After the Hard Reset it was working fine, but as soon as I reinstalled PPCPP it went again. I suspect there was some setting, in the registry maybe, that remembered the duff setup and kept giving me that. I've done a Hard Reset and rebuilt the phone from scratch. I've also taken an Sprite backup again with the apps I use these days to save me the effort next time. Thanks for you efforts cold_fire - another brain on the problem did help!
