Guest deadphill Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Has anyone got one of these phones? Any thoughts? Phill
Guest matt.elphick Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 My mate's got one, and I was a little dissapointed that it came with WM2003. He got it on o2 and could he find settings for it. Guess that's what you get for a new phone. Got the MMS working in the end. Samsung site surports i300 and you can get the settings there. The other nice thing he got was a IR Remote control software. I tried it on my Qtek 8310 and it is not compatable, but the i300 it works a treat.
Guest deadphill Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Anyone know if they offer it in o2 stores? I might go in and get one being as they do a £50 trade in! Phill
Guest Pondrew Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Yeah, the £50 trade in isn't at all bad (my understanding is that you have to trade in any old mobile that will turn on, complete with charger in order to qualify).

Orange retail do something similar, £10 for the phone, £10 for the charger and manual. Even after your trade in they're still more pricey than if bought from Orange online though  Richard
Guest deadphill Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Hold on guys Im getting a little confused here! Ok if I have read these right are the following statements true: 1. O2 instore sell these phones and I can get the trade in. I am waiting to go out and get one subject to me cancelling my current orange contract. 2. Orange also sell this handset albeit with a crappy trade in offer! Thanks Phill
Guest fluffcat1 Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 2. Orange also sell this handset albeit with a crappy trade in offer! No, sorry, just commenting about the trade in's. Not available from orange yet AFAIK. Richard

The only such thing I've read about is Tech's postings and he seems to have gotten down to working on it. Do you mean it's preloaded on the i300?

I haven't found it yet, and it's not on samsungs site for download :-( Richard
Guest Tech Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) interesting... i still doubt it would work, i just have that feeling (referring to the IR software) of course im still on the case :D yes it is true that the phone does not come with WM2005 - I actually wanted the phone because of the OS.... however im now happy with the imate SP5m (including the phone lol) i still think that after 4 months the battery will die down dramatically because of the miniHDD on that device! its a "neat" phone but can already see some flaws ;) I agree, orange have a poor trade in policy - well, orange are really bad now - from personal experience and reading from the users here.... Guest deadphill Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Well ive looked all over and I just cant see anywhere that can match this sort of phone with its windows mobile os and size of memory card. Ive always thought it was possible to have a phone thats as good or almost as good as something like an ipod and now its happened. Its a shame there is no wm5 as that would have been nice but I dont think Ill cry too much. At the end of the day if I end up not liking it I think I can get a fair amount for it, esp as it seems to be exclusive to O2 so it should be fairly rare and hold some value. I doubt I wont though. It uses transflash, I take it thats the mega small memory available out now. Any suggestions on where I can find big memory at small prices. It would be nice to try and get this baby pumped to the max with music! I will be phoning the O2 shop tomorrow and ordering one as I want a 3g sim as I got one of those execs for the nice and cheap price of £99 with a £50 trade in on some brick I had and £9.40 a month line rental! If anyone knows of any deals that are out there on the net that might be better than the one from O2 please let me know. Otherwise tomorrow Ill get one and when I do Ill post my findings with you. Thanks Phill
Guest deadphill Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Oh forgot to mention. In the O2 shop it was only a £30 trade in and they couldnt offer the price of the handset and the tarrifs I wanted compared to their online deal. And guess what, when I asked for a brochure, they were all out!! Ha ha!! ;)

Once o2 have some competition selling it the price will surely fall further. http://www.samsung.com/uk/presscenter/pres..._0000220559.asp "The new Samsung music phone will be sold exclusively through O2 in the UK until 22nd January 2006" Richard

Noooooooooooooooo...... ( Going to try my old 12X speed plextor to recover it after putting it back in shape)
Guest deadphill Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Bugger! Ive just ordered it. Never mind. Im sure that there is no problem, as I can always return it under the 14 day money back guarantee. Then I can just order another one instead! To be honest Im not so put off about the £50 spend, I havnt even seen the other networks begin to announce that phone so unless they are waiting, I could be waiting a long time. Still looking for some memory tho if anyone has any thoughts. Phill
