Guest nevawlkalone Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 I have been reading around (as you do) and i have noticed that people have been flashing phones with rom's that arnt for thei phone but are for that model...i.e spv c500 with qtek rom etc.. I was wondering if this is poosible with the c550 and the vario.... and if so which is the better one?
Guest Pondrew Posted January 9, 2006 Report Posted January 9, 2006 Woah, you don't mean you're thinking of trying to flash the Vario rom onto the C550 do you? Because no, that will definately NOT work. Not just because one is a Pocket PC Phone and the other a Smartphone. Your theory isn't entirely wrong however and it apparently is possible to change the rom on a device to another rom intended for the same device even that of a different brand. In your case you have an SPV C550 which is an HTC Hurricane, therefore you can only try another rom intended for an HTC Hurricane. And given the only other HTC Hurricane on the market that I'm aware of is the T-Mobile SDA II I guess you'd be limited to that as an alternative. BUT... First you want to think long and hard before messing with the rom on your device, especially given there is no SPV C550 rom available to attempt to flash back to should things go wrong. Secondly you STILL won't be able to flash the SDA II rom onto a C550 unless you have first unlocked the C550 to any rom via SPV Services or alternative www.imei-check.com. Thirdly, although I have read that it is possible to flash a C550 with an SDA II rom I still wouldn't recommend it. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Basically, if you decide to do it, you do so at your own risk! ;)
