but the signal bars are there. For some reason this happens all the time on my SP5. It'll show I have signal, even the big G in the middle but for network provider it'll say searching instead of T-Mobile.

Does the signal indicator show wi-fi signal as well? And is that why it says I have signal with the big G since I have wi-fi?

TIA

Did you put your SIM card inside?

Can you make calls?

This might also happen if your phone can't register in any of the available networks.

no - signal indicator is only for the cellular network.

Hi,

In my phone happens the same thing. Sometimes when i go to the subway, the status go "searching", but when i go up (to street), the phone still searching. The phone just go normal after a reset.

I have the same problem - here in NJ (07716 - in case you want to check T-Mobile's coverage map). I called T-Mobile, and placed a service request, and they did come out, find something wrong, and it's gotten better - but not totally good. Sometimes I'll have four bars, and still not connect! And, a soft reset doesn't always help me connect.

I think it might have something to do with connecting to the 850 network (rather than 1900 - I think), though T-Mobile says it should switch between the two without any problem.

I don't seem to have this problem in NYC, though it does take a while to connect after coming out of the subway.

I'm hoping a ROM update will improve this.

I see the searching msg for a few minutes even though the bars are full. After a few minutes it starts saying T-Mobile.

yes my SIM card is in.

I'm in New Jersey as well and work in Manhattan.

and for me it could be more then minutes before the searching...goes away.

and why would the phone try to connect to the 850 band if T-mobile doesn't use it? or does it and i'm missing something?

That's what i do - go to flight mode, then go back to normal - after a few seconds, it's ok.

The strange is that the phone display searching just when go out the subway in the morning, when i go to work. In the afternoon, when i go back home, the phone works ok - goes to searching when i go to subway and goes to normal when i go out the subway (automaticay).

I don't understand why in the morning he stays searching!

I tried turning to flight mode and then back but after its in flight mode and i try to turn flight mode off it doesn't get out of flight mode. I then have to turn off the phone and turn it back on. Really grueling. I'm currently back to using my W800 until this problem is fixed.
