Guest chickyd Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I tried to use skype for the first time on my Qtek and couldn't get it to work well enough to have a conversation. I'm using th BETA 1.2 release. Managing to get it connected, I can ring someone and connect to them but cannot talk - delays and echos. It makes the Qtek ridiculously slow and crashed a couple of times. I resorted to taling through my PC. Annoying cause this was one of the main selling points of a device with wifi built it. Anyone able to fix this?
Guest PayableOnDeath Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 After I installed skype i got it connected but didnt try any calls cos i was on gprs my phone kept Crashing and rebooting it self, so i uninstalled skype and its stopped crashingand rebooting, allthou now i get Notifaction Error cannt execute \program files\skype for pocket pc\skype.exe everytime i take it out of standby mode, allthou this will gone tonight when i upgrade my rom to the new tmobile one ;) then i think i will try skype again and see if its any better before loadin the phone up with apps again, just incase it plays up again
Guest adchaffey Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I use skype quite regularly now on my Vario over WiFi. Admitedly the call quality is pretty poor, but I've not had any crashes or anything and the chat functions work quite well.
Guest TomaHawk Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 makes sure your using the low processer version
Guest peterweg Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 makes sure your using the low processer version <{POST_SNAPBACK}> really? On howardforums they said the fast processor one was better. It works but I don't have anyone to call. I don't know if skpe ever has goos quality. The test message was 90% understandable.
Guest Spott Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 heya i get the notification error with skype too, even though i uninstalled it. what do i have to do to get rid of it? by the way my skype worked fine i uninstalled it because of the ntification error... doh!
Guest peterweg Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 works fine... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fiine in the Skype sense? (only 80% of the sound comes through) . I can't understand how skype sound quality can be so bad,. You can have an intelligent conversation with 14Kbits of very simply encoded speach. Yet Skype sound quality is garbage even using a 512k uplink. Its probably the poor pings (80ms or less is required for VOIP). But Skype seems to dropout blocks of sound
Guest chickyd Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I'm using version 1.2.0.89 I don't have any option to change the bit rate or quality so not sure what you're getting at. What version are you using that works fine? - can you throw a link in for me to pick it up? Cheers.
