Guest amnesia Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I have recently acquired an i-mate sp5. Every time I switch my phone off and back on it all boots up OK (asks me for my PIN etc) and then the homescreen disappears and a white screen with the following text appears... STK Service Interactive ___________ Music Chat Text plus Groups Prepay topup If I hit the exit softkey on this screen it goes to the normal homescreen and everything is normal. I am guessing that this is something to do with my operator (T-mobile), but what is it for, and can I mess anything up playing with it ? I have searched the forum for STK and didn't find any rows. Any ideas ? Cheers, Daniel.
Guest fluffcat1 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I have searched the forum for STK and didn't find any rows. STK = Sim Tool Kit. For example, with Orange, it allows you to get sports news etc. Usually a chargeable service. Dunno why it's set to startup on booting? Doesn't on my SP5m. Richard
Guest XiSt3nCe Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Why even use it? I would think GPRS would be cheaper and a better option; But as for stopping it from starting when you power on the phone; I would look for a registry tweak; I'm unfamiliar with orange or your particular model of phone; Hope my suggestion helps!

The STK screen seems to be the same screen that I get when I select 'Interactive' from the start menu, but it pops up on its own when I restart the device. It also seems to pop up randomly too, I leave my mobile on overnight because I am on call, and this morning it was displaying this screen again :| I am not sure that the SIM I have is a standard SIM - it was sent to me as a replacement when I lost my phone last week. I am on a contract, but the STK options include pre-pay topup ? A bit confused... it didn't start doing it until the middle of the week, and I have had the phone since last Saturday. I will have a look for a registry tweak though - thanks for the suggestion. Daniel.
