Guest scott_b Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Hi Just installed SP Task Manager on the M5000 and it has worked a few times but now everytime i load it up it displays the error message: an error occured while getting the process list! Any ideas as to why this is happening? Also, i went to uninstall it and it says it was unsuccessful- how can i remove it manually? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I think you've made the common mistake of installing Smartphone software onto a Pocket PC. Vice versa is even more common ! Although the marketing men are blurring the distinction, and WM05 is the first step towards combining the platforms, software designed for one shouldn't be installed on the other. So, your M5000 is technically a Pocket PC and you don't want to install Smartphone software unless you have definitely been told it will work. I don't mean to lecture you but others will read this so I've put the full monty down. ;) Have you tried the ActiveSync Add/Remove Programs tool as well as the one on the M5000 in Settings, System ? (I assume this is still the location) Using ActiveSync look for a folder called \Windows \AppMgr \Install and empty out anything that might be in there. Any failed installations get dumped in there and clog up the works.

Ive actually been wondering what the M5000 was, a Smartphone or Pocket PC, but didnt want to ask cause i thought it was a silly question! ;) So any software thats designed for the pocketPC should work alright on the M5000 then? Ill try those other ways of uninstalling and hopefully it will work! Cheers again

Always take care to read the product description ;)

Ive just tried to uninstall all the 5 SMARTPHONE apps that i installed! lol Just wasn't working so i did a factory reset and formatted the memory card. Start fresh and at least ill know to stick to the PocketPC software this time!
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I was hoping you wouldn't have to go that far but it's probably the best way to sort yourself out. It's a good learning experience anyway and its good to get it out of the way early on ;)
