Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Full review to follow on Monday. First impressions: Pros: - Feels good in the hand - Screen IS small, but crisp - Roller will probably be great when you get used to it - Decent internal speaker - Great set of included software - Yay! A2DP! Cons: - No WM5 :D - Screen is small - Proprietary connector (no Mini USB) It's funny getting this device after all the HTC ones i've had. How to put it... HTC make computers, Samsung make consumer devices. I'll elaborate in my review ;) P
Guest Jamma14 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Looking forward to the review! Was thinking about getting one myself, from first impressions dya think it's up big leap up from the c550 or is it just different? James
Guest fluffcat1 Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Plug it into your xbox 360! Plug it into your xbox 360! Plug it into your xbox 360! ;) Richard
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Why? Why? Why? P PS OK then... ;) PPS Totally different kettle of fish to the C550...
Guest wesbar Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I think this may be the ideal device to replace my poorly K-Jam which is very close to being destroyed!! . A few questions though if you would be so kind. How well does it play movies off the hard drive with TCMP? Can you install apps to the hard drive and if so are they sluggish to open? What is the build quality like? Are there any creaks under pressure? (sad I know but I really hate that) Exactly how bad is the battery life with the non ugly battery?. I read another review which said it only lasted 2 hours playing mp3's with the screen off. Surely that cant be right can it? Is it better than a SP5 / SP5m / C600? I know you're posting a full review on Monday but I have a chance to get one of these this weekend and would be grateful if you could answer the above. Thanks
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 - Not tried TCPMP - They open a bit slower, but nothing too bad - Build quality is excellent - The battery life with the regular battery is under a day with minimal use for me atm! - Yes, except for battery life, therefore, er, no probably ;) P
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 It works a treat playing music thru the 360 (and charging from it at the same time!) P
Guest wesbar Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 cheers Paul . What would you class as minimal use?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 15 mins of music from hard disk, no calls and syncing email 4-5 times during the day? Beam receive off, backlight lowest setting. I'm hoping it's going to improve as the battery has a few charge cycles... P
Guest MurphmanL Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 I've had mine 2 days now, must say im really not impressed with the battery performance so far! Any updates from you yet paul? Dont suppose the battery life has improved shedloads with a few charges? As for me Im just about getting a day with the extended battery.at cant understand where the 1700mah is all going... surely the hard disk cant be that powerful?! since its access speed isnt all that great anyway! Know of any registry tweaks that may help, or any idea of an update in the works to increase life? Wow, if its this bad as is, to even compete with an SPV we'd need like a 4000mah or so battery ;)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Battery life has not improved, and after it died on me at a vital time, i'm back to my C600 ;) P
