Guest Chiz Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 (edited) I have searched but found nothing in the forums already. There probably is though, so if someone knows where, can you point me to it? :D I keep getting warnings about low memory on my C500  I haven't installed anything of size on the phone recently and all programs/home screens are installed on the memory card. I couldn't send a text message so thought it could be that I have to many. I checked in Accessories>Space Maker and saw that I have 27.98 MB used which apparently is 100% of the storage. Thought I would delete all my text messages, so started it calculating how many I had and how much memory it took up. It finished at 5,114 at 3.88mb. I told it to delete them all. It took a long time. ;) I restarted the phone and.........they are all still there and the low mem warning is still happening :D Any ideas on how I can delete all the messages rather then doing it 1 by 1 5,114 times :??: Cheers Chiz Edited January 13, 2006 by Chiz
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Use ActiveSync to clear out the Messaging & MAPI folders. That should help ;)
Guest Honest John Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Use ActiveSync to clear out the Messaging & MAPI folders. That should help ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just so I don't completely b****r my C500 up, are you talking about deleting the .MPB and .ATT files? Thanks
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Re the low memory status... Other files/folders to check: 1. Messaging and MAPI folders as pointed out by Disco Stu 2. cemail.vol for the Inbox. It gets 'inflated' once you have lots of SMS 3. mxip_initdb.vol for the Contacts, Calendar data, Speed dial entries. Same behavior as the previous vol file. Altogether, the SMS, Calendar, and Contacts database would not occupy the entire 27Mb space of the phone (if you are an average user). Kindly check \Storage\windows\AppMgr\Install for CAB files from failed installations. If you see CABs inside, you may delete them. To 'mass delete' SMS, open Inbox > Menu > Folders > highlight Inbox > Menu > Clear Text Messages. Do the same with the rest of the folders to clear them of messages.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 The MAPI folder contains sent messages and is a good plce for building up clutter. Or if you want to wipe all your recieved messages you can also delete the cemail.vol file. edit doh should not try and watch tv as my replies get too slow :oop:
Guest Chiz Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Wow a multitude of very quick replies. Thanks very much all. It will give them a try. Chiz
Guest Chiz Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Right.. I have deleted all the SMS in my inbox. Given more available space. Tried to do the same for Sent items (gpcarreon's [MVP] instructions) but it did not seem to work. Checked the CABs in Install and there were non. Can't carry out Disco Stu's idea with Activsync as haven't got it at work. So conclusion is.......slightly better then before but not ideal. Chiz
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 @Chiz Have you considered a hard reset?
Guest hunyango_uk Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 It finished at 5,114 at 3.88mb. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ;) :D :D sorry if i find this funny but how did you do that, whew! that's a lot of message. it shows that you are a certified professional texter. :D
