Guest harlex Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 I am new to Smartphone and to date am a little disappointed with my new SP5 and was hoping someone may be able to help. Tried to create initial partnership with PC-Phone so as to upload my large contact directory (1000+ contacts). When partnershop is made, the only thing that appears to have sync'd with phine is calendar. If I try and create new contact on phone, this too does not sync with PC as is the case if I do same or modify something on PC. Have tried to find this specific problem with search engines but to no avail. If this subject is covered elsewhere on this site, I apologise in advance, I am at whits end and am just about to throw phone in trash as I have been working on this problem for far to long and compared to my pocket PC, this whole process is very non user friendly. Thanks in advance.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 I only have about 300 contact in Outlook, but a very large calendar, and I find that with WM5, the first sync is extrordinarily long. It needs to complete the first sync for you to have no problems. Try doing a hard reset, deleting old partnershipes in ActiveSync and trying again. Make sure it finishes the process and say synchronized. Also be sure to use the latest version of AS (4.1).
Guest hunyango_uk Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 (edited) try this first before you throw your phone :D open the activesync on your pc activesync => tools\option contacts calendar email task notes favorites windows media player etc........ then tick the items you want to sync including contacts. :D and now if it still doesn't work, just give me a message and i will give you my address then send the sp5 to me and i'll be happy to do the throwing for you (not, i'll keep it myself ;) ) Edited January 16, 2006 by hunyango_uk
Guest nickcornaglia Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 figured he already knew that since they were previously a PPC user.
Guest harlex Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks to contributors but after much ado I had to reset the sp5 and start from scratch. After this I managed to upload Cal, Contacts and tasks. I still have a continuing problem that to sucessfully sync I need to reboot PC and SP5 and turn off Norton IS. From what I have read there seems to be other users suffering somewhat similar probs but maybe over time I will find out how to resolve this also. Again thanks.
