Cr@p from Orange online - C600 not even here yet

Well, what can I say. Having now been waiting two and a half months for the Orange C600, I was amazed to discover yesterday that the Bull Ring store in Birmingham finally had some in stock. Having spent a few minutes twiddling around with the buttons and trying out the camera, I was satisfied that it was good in all the necessary ways and that I should get one.

Knowing the online store does better "pay monthly" tariffs, I came home and placed my order, specifying my home address for all the billing, invoicing etc. and my work address for delivery (as during the daytime I will be .... drumroll ........ at work!)

Today I went back to the Bull Ring for unrelated shopping - I could well have bought my handset there and then, had I known that at 16:00 an e-mail would arrive in my mailbox asking for £5 deposit (requiring my debit/credit card details I have already provided) and telling me that even after I had provided these details my order will only be delivered to my home address.

I am not impressed. My phone doesn't even have any missed calls on it, so its not like they even tried to phone me. The telephone number they've given me was for an office that closed within an hour of "Eric Wood" sending the mail. Coincidentally, Eric Wood can't even set up his mail client to set the correct reply-to address, and has to resort to appending his emails with "please don't reply to me" - not consistent with their answerphone message stating how much they value their customers, is it?

Orange, if I'm signing up for a year's contract, and an order the total value of which exceeds £150, you'll send my ordered goods where I ******* well choose, and you'll phone me if you need to know something to expedite the order. You'll also use the correct order reference number in your correspondence.

Not impressed, not impressed at all.

We shall have to see what happens tomorrow. I've emailed theorangeshop@ address asking them to confirm whether their query does actually relate to my order (given the incorrect reference number), and will probably end up speaking to them tomorrow.

If there's one thing I've learned about salespeople, its that mobile phone salespeople are the lowest of them all.

Frustrated of Birmingham.

About as unimpressed as the Mods will be when the see your use of foul language...

But I fully support your anger without the language - Orange made me feel two foot tall yesterday - so it's bye bye for me too.

Ah yes, you're the man who puts animated gifs of naked people eating each others faces on my screen when I read the forum at work aren't you. Attaching graphical images of nude sexual behaviour to every post you make hardly puts you in a position to make judgements like these.

The rules say "excessive or continuous". I suggest you let the Mods speak for themselves.

indeed this is orange

since october ive been asking "do you have the C600? when is it going to be released?" etc... and everytime "no its not released, its not going to, it will be released, it is released".... btu still its not in orange retail!

CS say "its released" orange retail say "nope"

CS then say "no its not released" and so do orange retail

communication is lacking from orange no doubts about that.

That would be the image debated to death on here at length (18 pages it ran to eventually), and then fully agreed by all mods, that it was permissable, that you refer to, would it? If so, then as you say... I DID let the Mods speak for themselves on that issue... maybe YOU should take your OWN advice as well...

But hey... if my second paragraph in support of your frustrations alone was not enough to avoid your irk, anger and fury, then may I just offer that perhaps, just perhaps, your quick temper and attitude maybe speaks for itself...

I'm sorry I even spoke to defend your frustrations, if not your language.

Go get a life son, with an attitude like that...

If you couldn't see the general light heartedness to my post, you couldn't see at all.

If I was deeply offended by anyone's language, I would hardly go on to discuss their original issue, and agree with them, and even say I know the feeling, and have experienced similar myself.

jeezuz... get a life and get a grip son...

Have a nice day. And just in case you really are THAT blind here's a smiley too to remove ANY excuse you might have this time for reading it all wrong...

;)

DOH.

I think you're flattering yourself with "irk, anger and fury". Thank you, though, for demonstrating your inability to refrain from escalating this into a series of random personal attacks, and reluctance to acknowledge that anyone is entitled to an opinion of what is "foul" apart from you. Well done.

Now, is there anything you'd like to say about phones?

My sincerest of apologies mate - can you ever forgive me - I must have got confused and thought that your attack on my avatar came BEFORE my post explaining your concerns had already been refuted by the Mods... Oh wait a minute... it DID *lol* So in that case, I merely throw your OWN comment here right back at you - your own words, self-directed, have far more significance and effect than any I could respond with myself. So right back at you pal - sauce for the goose and all that...

...and reluctance to acknowledge that anyone is entitled to an opinion of what is "foul" apart from you. Well done.
You mean like I did right at the start, about your choice of language (state my opinion on what I think is foul), and your response was that my OWN OPINION is not what matters, and I should let the Mods speak for themselves.??? (Even though, when you think aout it, this is exactly what I should be telling YOU - as this is exactly what the Mods have done with my Avatar). So now your completely going BACK on what you say, and telling me it IS alright to have an opinion? Make your damn mind up. I hate people that blow hot and cold, in the same sentence... very poor old chap... It makes you look very silly...

Now, is there anything you'd like to say about phones?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think I already have - some THOUSAND or more posts actually last I looked. But if you meant in this thread, then I TRIED to also do that at the very start, but you were too interested in bitching back at me to discuss what my gripe is with Orange.

So in this thread, let me clarify... you have bitched at me for complaining about your language, and said it is none of my business, but yet thought it OKAY to have a bitch yourself back, immediately after saying that bitching is lame... And then went on to say all I can do is turn this into a 'series' of personal attacks (when was ONE a series mate - it only became a SERIES when YOU did exactly what you said is so lame, and did the same back). And then to round it all off, you then totally go back on your own words by saying you should be entitled to express your opinions, when this all started because you complained about me stating MY opinion...? WOW! How Hypocrytical!

Did I leave anything else out?

ROTFLMAO.

Quality - pure quality. Love it.

Have a nice evening. I look forward to seeing which one of your own maxims or opinions you intend to totally contradict or ignore next...

I would call Orange again tomorrow, to make sure they processed the order after taking the deposit. I gave them my deposit on Friday, and they told me the phone would deliver Monday (today) however i phoned up at 4pm today and the deposit has been paid but Orange "forgot" to process the order so now i'm looking at a Wednesday Delivery.

So in this thread, let me clarify...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Good lord are you still going?

I would call Orange again tomorrow, to make sure they processed the order after taking the deposit. I gave them my deposit on Friday, and they told me the phone would deliver Monday (today) however i phoned up at 4pm today and the deposit has been paid but Orange "forgot" to process the order so now i'm looking at a Wednesday Delivery.

I've had lots more fun since Sunday. On Monday I spoke to sales assistant A, who told me I'd not passed the credit check and sent me two autogenerated e-mails to provide further information on this. I was rather perturbed but there's nothing you can do in these situations. A few years ago I spent a short while in a flat where the previous tenant had some nasty outstanding debts, so I just presumed it was something to do with that, sat back, and requested my credit report from Experian (didn't realize it only cost £2) out of interest.

However, having been told during that conversation that Orange couldn't tell me why I hadn't passed and that Experian would be able to, I was a little frustrated to see that the Experian online FAQ states that they can't tell you why you've been refused credit either, as all they provide is various scores and it is only the vendor that sets thresholds on each of them. So I phoned back, to try and find out which particular score had been the problem.

This time, I was told (by assistant :D that I could pay the £5. :?:

I explained that I wasn't going to be at the home address as I would be at work, and the assistant gave me a number for the delivery firm so I could find out how far the depot would be when I inevitably had to drive there to collect. Called them, found out it was 45 minutes each way. Bummer, but having already been told once I couldn't have the phone I guess I'd realized how much I wanted it so I rang Orange back for a third time. Assistant C (they never put you through to the last guy!) was initially unsure, and went away for a time leaving me on musak. I was just wondering if he was going to come back and tell me "didn't someone tell you your credit was refused" when he returned and instead took my £5 payment, and told me my phone would be delivered the very next day.

The next day I checked my mail only to discover another mail from Orange, sent after my conversation with assistant C, stating that my credit had been refused. :|

Phoned one last time (assistant D), who advised me that what had actually happened was:

- assistant A had misinterpreted the credit score and had told me I'd failed the credit check when I hadn't.

- assistant A had then cancelled my order on the basis of this misinformation

- assistant C had found this when he examined my order, and had re-entered the order

- that the information that had prevented the phone being delivered to an address other than home address was an "identity rating" rather than a credit check, which can be affected by things like electoral roll or even VISA statements still going to a parents house.

- that my phone was currently in transit

Today I found that the delivery man had actually delivered the phone to my landlord anyway, and I've now been messing about with my new toy for a good few hours! Alls well that ends well and while it got a bit messy I'm actually quite impressed that Orange did get it sorted out right in the end and did come clean on the mistake. We got there in the end!

;)

Do bear with it if you want the phone. Of the five people I spoke to only one made a mistake, and perhaps in a day or so you will have a happy story and a new phone too! Good luck!
