Guest ajb3000 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Who purchased an SD card from Expansys and uses it in their SPV? I was about to buy one then heard of a lot of people having trouble with them, so who bought one and does it work?
Guest Will Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 purchased 2 both work fine, but I guess you could always get a dud? (integral 128mb) All sd cards seem a little 'flimsy' IMHO. Will
Guest youngerpants Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I bought one (128 mb) and it works fine. Also found expansys very prompt
Guest Thurstan Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I got a 128mb SD from Expansys and it works like a dream. I would say, though, that it's a good idea to remove the sticky label as the first time I inserted it it took a while for it to pop back out when I pushed it in!
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 ok great, i'll buy one. When you get it does it work straight away? or do you ahve to format it? Also can I copy all the contents of my 8mb card onto my PC, then copy them to the 128mb card? Will all the installed programs still work fine?
Guest youngerpants Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 yes no(well i didnt) yes you can no, you'll have to re-install them if you installed them on the card ;)

Guest ajb3000 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Oh yes, £43.82 for an Integral from www.valueflash.co.uk, or they sell a Panasonic for £47, which do you think I should buy?
Guest youngerpants Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 the cheapest one obviously. An SD card is an SD card much the same way a floppy disk is a floppy disk; unless you get one encrusted in rubies & emeralds
Guest WJC19 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 Agree with Younger there all do the same thing at the end of the day
Guest SUKY Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 But the to companys are based in the uk... www.vauleflash.com www.offtek.co.uk No messing around if the product don't work where the other expansy is not in the uk!!

Guest spikex Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 http://www.valueflash.co.uk They sell a 128MB SD Card for £45.80 incl. VAT and Delivery. Comes with a 5 year Guarantee. Integral 256MB SD Card for £120.60 incl. Vat and Delivery. 5 Year Guarantee (in limited quantities) So far I have found this site to be the cheapest but I do believe that ebay has some even cheaper ones (but can you trust them?) SpikeX.
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 ebay sell 128mb for £47 or 256mb for £90 (from some bloke in new york), add £5 for P&P
Guest jtsaint Posted January 22, 2003 Report Posted January 22, 2003 I got two from expansys and they both worked perfectly had them the next day. Thoroughlt recommend them
Guest whirlypig Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 I bought a 256MB SanDisk SD Card from eBay for £90, works a treat and is covered by a 5-year warranty. There are a few people selling these, the link below is for a guy in Switzerland who is quick and reliable but doesn't always have them in stock. http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...&userid=tichnak I've ordered a Sony Memory stick from some guy in New York before and that was excellent value and arrived in just a few days. It's just a case of checking the seller's feedback out and making a judgement. Note, computer components aren't liable to import duty but in theory you should pay VAT though very few small packages actually get caught. ;)
Guest cepheus1 Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 OK....I can get a 128 Sandisk for £59.91 that comes with a Cruzer :!: Is the Cruzer worth getting guys :?:
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted January 23, 2003 Report Posted January 23, 2003 You can copy the contents of your 8mb card onto the new card and it will work fine including installed apps. For those who are interested.
