Guest keeko Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 (edited) Hi, I'm considering moving to Vodafone now that my Orange contract has expired. I really want to keep to a Windows enabled mobile. I've been offered a VPA Compact for £50 on Business 300 Tariff for £25 per month (300 minutes and 50 texts a month). This is from my local Vodafone store. Any thoughts on this handset? - I get so confused which handset is which on this forum to be honest - I think this is the S100 model (or is it the S110?) Can anyone tell me which sub-forum I should be checking for info here!? :?: Can anyone suggest a similarly priced handset/tariff combination? Or does this sound like a good deal to you? Thanks for your advice. Edited January 18, 2006 by keeko
Guest Pondrew Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Hi keeko, The VPA Compact is indeed the same as the Qtek S100/Imate Jam/MDA Compact so the forum you want is the HTC Magician hardware specific section. It's a good device to introduce you to the Pocket PC format although it has less ram then most Pocket PCs (64meg) and so will become less stable on running lots of programs. This shouldn't be too much of a problem though. What is an unknown quantity is whether Vodafone will provide you with any support. I've never heard of them proving updates but then they're not known as a Windows Mobile provider (the VPA range is a virtual unknown!). Let us know how you find the device. Topic moved to Pocket PC Help & Advice <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the response Pondrew, and for moving my thread to the correct forum! I'd just realised I'd been looking in the wrong place for info. I'm still torn between this and the Vario on a T-Mobile Tariff. My main concern with T-Mobile however, is the quality of coverage in Brighton UK. If anyone here could comment on that I'd be grateful, though I'm probably posting on the wrong forum again! Doh!
Guest Pondrew Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Well, I've been to Brighton a month ago and had no problems with the T-Mobile reception. Was even able to send mms from the end of the Brighton Pier! I would probably recommend the MDA Vario (HTC Wizard) over the VPA Compact as it's newer technology and more memory...
