Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Orange Switzerland have released a number of patches for their devices, including the SPV C600. On their newly formed updates page that can be found here, they list 2 December updates for the SPV C600 which apparently fix the MMS Memory and Pocket IE image problems that also affect UK C600 users. We've contacted Orange UK to determine if there will be a release here, and we'll give you more information as we have it. We haven't tried the Swiss updates on UK devices, and, of course, you do so at your own risk ;) A full list of the files available on the page is included below, and it's great to see MoDaCo linked from the page too! :D P SPV C500 ROM update Version 4.2.5.2 (Dec. 2005) SPV C600 software patch Pocket Internet Explorer (Dec. 2005) MMS application (Dec. 2005) SPV M500 ROM update Version 6.12.5.173 (Dec. 2005) SPV M2000 ROM update SPV M2000 German: version 5.40.5.228 (Dec. 2005) SPV M2000 French: version 5.40.5.227 (Dec. 2005) SPV M1000 bug fix MMS1.6.0.14WWE.CAB (Aug. 2004) SPV E200 Software update version 2.7.5.1 (Aug. 2004) SPV Classic & E100 Software update version 1.50 (Jun. 2003) Please note that no further updates will be available for the SPV Classic, SPV E100 and SPV E200 due to improved developments on new model C500, based on Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003. Guest ElGato65 Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Well the C500 update works OK, ;)
Guest rickwookie Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Well the C500 update works OK, ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What has changed on your C500 as a result? Anything fixed now, or broken now? I'm still using 4.1.1.4, but I'm interested in the line "Correction in network settings to improve GPRS connectivity" since that's the only problem I have with the phone. It will simply not connect again to GPRS if all call comes in and interrupts a GPRS session. Have to reboot or go flight mode on/off to reconnect to network and 'reset' the GPRS. If you could see if this is fixed in the new rom that would be great. Interesting it states "Correction in network settings...", does this mean there's a tweak we could apply without flashing the rom. I'd be keen to know if your network settings are now different to those with older roms. Cheers. R.
Guest ElGato65 Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Sorry can't be of much help. I've don't actually use the C500 anymore, not since I got the C550. I actually have a Vodafone PAYG sim in it. I did swap them over, but couldn't get a GPRS session going on the C500.
Guest thorp Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 M500 update works fine - just had to change the regional options (as expected - let's face it !). Now just to find out whether it will fix my irritating nightly crash issue....
Guest Jerome2811 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Could someone post the 'Info' screen information for the C500 which can be found in the settings menu? Thnx
Guest jarold Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Is the C600 update a full ROM image? would it work on a C550 enabling an upgrade to WM5?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Could someone post the 'Info' screen information for the C500 which can be found in the settings menu? Thnx <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest Pondrew Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Is the C600 update a full ROM image? would it work on a C550 enabling an upgrade to WM5? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> C600 roms will only work on HTC Tornado type devices and will not work on an SPV C550 as it is a different device with different hardware.
Guest jarold Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Cheers Pondrew, just have to hope they might see fit to do a WM5 upgrade for the C550
Guest Honest John Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I know this is Off Topic, but following the thread of the C500 latest settings, my C500 has the following Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14217) Radio Version 1337.0.32_0.03.18 Operator 4.1.1.4 Manufacturer 1.1.1.91 and lots more. Obviously an older build. Would I gain by applying a ROM update? If so, what exactly would that be? Thanks
Guest Jerome2811 Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 @ Elgato65 & GPCarreon Thanx for the info. However it seems to be equal to the UK .5 update. Or did you notice any differences? I know this is Off Topic, but following the thread of the C500 latest settings, my C500 has the following Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14217) Radio Version 1337.0.32_0.03.18 Operator 4.1.1.4 Manufacturer 1.1.1.91 and lots more. Obviously an older build. Would I gain by applying a ROM update? If so, what exactly would that be? Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, but since it seems you have the UK version of the C500 you might use the UK update which doesn't void the warranty. I'm sure you are able to find out more in the update threads over here at Modaco.
Guest edmund Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 (edited) On the M500... Now just to find out whether it will fix my irritating nightly crash issue.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is it better? My current version (as shipped) is 6.06.1.175 - have you noticed any other improvements? Thanks, Edited January 20, 2006 by edmund
