Orange SPV M5000 Questions

Got my Orange M5000 as a free upgrade when I threatened to leave.

Received it today and noticed that when I use the camera and switch to 'night time' mode I can clearly see about 9 blue pixels that seem to be locked on in various places on the screen. Not ideal. Is this a fault on all phones - do they all have a number of similar of faulty blue pixels or should I return it?

Also I want to use 'push' based synchronisation from my Exchange server - where do I find the email address to send SMS messages to the phone that it asks for?

Why has this been moved here? - this is NOT a pocket PC device. This is a Windows Mobile device.

Um...I think it really should be in the HTC Universal sub forum - as it's a device specifc question. Anyhow, to answer your question - yes, I have noticed the same thing on mine. I don't think there is anything wrong with the pixels, but more likely the camera software in the ROM. it's a pity, as using the night mode is really the only mode which gives decent results in anything other than good light.

Don't know much about the push functionality - but I seem to remember reading on here that Orange were NOT planning to build that feature into any future ROM update/patch.

The push feature is already there, you just need an 'email to SMS' facility for your Exchange server to tell your phone to sync.

The Universal (aka M5000) is a PPC. WM5 is the operating system used by PPCs (and SmartPhones), SmartPhones don't have touchscreens PPCs do. Although the distinction is getting more blurred the Universal is definatly a PPC. Which forum did ypu originally post in?

With regards to your orriginal questions:

1) Just checked my camera in night mode - NO blue pixels. Mine is an O2 Exec rather than an M5000 so it "could" be software related but it could be dead pixels. Can you see the same pixels in other apps? Try creating a plane black picture (and a plane white one as I'm not sure which would show them up) and if you can see them then you have dad pixels. Although one or two dead pixels is probably acceptble (at least to Orange) any more and would ask for a replacement.

2) FrankyG was refering to the "Push" email available with WM5 and Exchange SP2 which Orange have said they will not release an update for, you are refering to "email to SMS" which is different and I have no experience of. I have seen something about it on one of these forums and if no one else replies I will see if I can find out for you.

Welcome to the world of PPCs ;)
