Guest D J Fryer Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 So I figured that sending a file by bluetooth would be as simple as finding the file in File Explorer and then sending from there, however there is no option to do this. Can I send files by bluetooth with the standard s/ware or do I need to install Smart Explorer to do this?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 You need to install Smart Explorer, I believe. The C600 actually allows you to send files by BT with the pre-installed software but not the earlier SPVs.
Guest D J Fryer Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Thanks Disco Stu - will go d/load Smart Explorer at lunchtime when Big Bro isn't watching my surfing habits ;)
Guest mini_man Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 huh of course its possible any standard smartphone program .eg phone book callendar file explorer (built in) gives you the option to send the file via beam. a quick guide : activate bt (on or discoverable) go to your standard program click send via beam and it will pick up ir or bt devices plus you get a nice little icon telling you which is which! although smartexplorer is the better app and it asks you if you want bluetooth activated
Guest gijsdvm Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Yeah i also thought it wasnt possible on the SPV C550 for a while, but then i discovered you *can* send via BT. When you click on Send via Beam it'll search for BT devices, but this is very very slow. At first it'll show only a couple of numbers as name for other devices, because it'll find the real names quite a bit later. Also the sending process is very very slow. Does anyody know why this is all so slow?
Guest mini_man Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 btw did u already activate bt before you started the beaming process. Secondly it did notice being closer speeds it up but what also makes a difference is what range and type of bt the other phone has.
Guest gijsdvm Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 yes it was allready activated.. And i tested it with a Nokia smartphone (dont know exactly which), but i thought that the Nokia had BT 2
Guest mini_man Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 yeh ure rite, it wasnt slow for me (sending to 6230) seemed normal but i still use smartexplorer. god tht mac code is annoying! it takes ages to find the name seriously guys wht is the point in pairing if the other paired device doesnt appear on the list
