Guest Potatohead Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 After persevering for 6 weeks i've finally given in and shown the i300 the door (right after the battery died mid call). in Lieu of a new SPV C600 (Faraday) - Far Far better phone from my personal point of view after sampling both and coming from a C500. And WM5 Yay  I rekon there is still some serious work to be done in having "pocketable" mobile phone power that can sustain a juice hungry hard drive in tandem with real world standby & talk times, and possibly too much effort has been spent on the "race" to be the first to bring a HDD phone to the market. Never mind. Does anyone have nay news on the Nokia HDD phone yet??? Hands up who's happy with their i300? Some may be ok with it but as a frequent business user i couldnt live with the battery life. And with champions of memory 'Sandisk' already having hit the 2gb Mini SD mark with rumours of a 4gb in the pipeline, i believe solid state has still seems to have the edge for mobile phones. You could probably have squeezed 2 x 4gb SD sized chips in the space taken up by the Micro HDD, maybe ??? See you on the other side in the C600 forums. TTFN. ;)/ Any one got any other thoughts?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I have returned to the C600 from my i300 ;) I LOVE the phone, and there are things I definitely miss about it, but for me, the battery life was TOO bad... I expect the Nokia HDD phone to have the same problem! P

I expect the Nokia HDD phone to have the same problem! P <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I must admit there were a few nice touches with the i300, including some of the extra shortcut buttons, and i did get used to the wheel very quickly indeed. If they were to bring out a non-HDD version with WM5 i think it could content with the old hands susch as C600 (albeit the C600 has it on screen size). Removal of the HDD would probably allow space in the same handset confuguration for a Standard SD Slot for 4MB joy. The TV remote control could've given me hours of wind up fun with the Landlords telly down the local  Whilst i've got you in conversation would you be able to point me in the right direction for which is the cleanest WM5 Rom Flash that works for the C600 and where to get it? [-o< Many thanks See you in the C600 zone.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I do have an i300 review coming up... buy my favourite feature is YOU CAN TURN OFF THAT DAMN FLASHING SERVICE LED! lol... Stick the TI OMAP in there instead of the Intel Bulverde perhaps, SD slot instead of HDD (I have a 4GB SD), WM5 and grow the screen a fraction and it's my dream device. Great software build, even if it is 2003. Remote control is a nice touch, yeah... P
