Guest amnesia Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Hey all ;) I have had my SP5 for a few weeks now, and I've been experimenting with various bits of software, and tweaks. I have noticed that it can make a difference where you store your apps and other software. For example, if I have papyrus, facade, fizz traveller and smartmonitor installed on my SD card, then my favourite homescreen (chromium) won't show my schedule. If all those things are installed on the actual device, then it works fine. This maybe just a bad example and all I need to do is amend the xml, but you get the idea. Also, what happens if you install all your regular apps on the SD card and swap cards ? Half of your apps stop working ! Is it therefore wise to install all the regularly used apps on the device, and just keep media/data (mp3, divx etc) and games on the card(s) ? What is the benefit of installing ALL your apps on a storage card ? What exactly are you saving the space on the device for ?? Does it run better with more storage free ? Any thoughts ?
Guest peekie Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 i install everything onto the sd card on my sp5 , mainly to keep the memory free for the phone, but there are a few applications that store their cache on the phones memory even if the programme is installed onto the sd card , eg opera and that antivirus programme . if you fill up the phones memory it will make the phone slow down and prevent you from sending mms ;)
