Problem: Activesync with two wizards

Hi All,

I have spent all day trying to fix this but havn't got anywhere, has anyone got any ideas?

Basicly, both my wife and I have a vario. I synced mine fine, but when I came to plug in the other one activesync just ignored it and windows seemed to think it was a network card.

I tried.....

Reinstalling active sync (4.1) and putting my wife's phone in first

restarting phone (soft)

turning firewall off

tried my old c500, worked fine

....in many combinations, but no luck.

As i have synced other devices fine, it must be due to the fact that I have two wizards and AS or XP is getting its knickers in a twist.

I suppose it could be worse - it could be my phone that won't sync ;)

Did you ever got a succesful synch with your phone?

I got a Orange M3000 and my girlfriend a Vario, I can connect hers and I can access it thru MSAsynch to put files on the device so I think synching data would work fine too...

ok... looked over that.

Did you try to synch her Vario on another PC to check if its ok?

I always had problems with this and two C500s. ActiveSynch would often fail to start on one XP profile after it had been used on the other one. The PC would usually need to be restarted (sometimes twice) to get a successful synch.

I have no such problems using two Varios with wireless synch to my Exchange serve so I haven't tested it with USB.

I just tried the non-syncing vario at a friends house and it worked fine!

I feel a XP reinstall coming on (really don't want to do that)

Any ideas?

Have you checked if the Device Names are the same? If you haven't changed them they may both be set to the Wizard default, which could possibly be causing contention.

Tried that but with no joy, thanks for your help though.

Try changing the device name of the one that doesn't work. If the original partnership ahs screwed up somehwere then it might just sort it. Failing that try uninstalling and reinstalling activesynch - you shouldn't need to do a full XP reinstall.
