Hi. I'm kinda new to this thing here. But...I was wondering...most of the homescreen layouts are .cab files. I can't run them on my phone for some reason. Can anyone properly tell me how to make a .cab files work?

...put the cab file in storage > windows > start menu > acessories.

and then on your device go to the acessories folder and find the file and it will install.

if it says someting like you need premissions the you have to unlock your spv... follow the instructions.

heres the link

Alright, so I download the .cab file. Then I extract ONLY the xml file. Cause that all you need right? Then I take that xml file and copy and paste it in my accessories folder of my phone. Then I go onto my phone and I went to that folder and pressed ok on that. Then it pops up a white screen and at the bottom it has favorites and menu. It's like I opened up a empty file. I tried several files to. I think I opened up something in internet explorer on my phone but nothing shows...only a white screen.

Ok, I did that but when I try to run it on my phone...this is what it says...

Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed becaise it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate.

What am I suppose to do?

I believe that you have to 'unlock' your phone by editing the registry and removing some of the security settings (its the same as windows xp's digital certification thingy) see http://sbisson.livejournal.com/617408.html).

Remember to use the 'find xxxxxx ' in the registry editor

That worked for me on my already network free and suposedly inlocked phone.

Post if you have questions.

It seems that I can't open that file either. I don't think nextels can be unlocked...this stinks. Is there a way to convert it to .hme cause .hem files work perfectly fine for me

well im not sure of ure nextel device but a good thing to do is to ask the creator of the homescreen to give you the homescreen as an xml.

Then open the files on ure desktop and drag all of them storage/application data/home

then when you go to look at which homescreens you can use they should be there!
