Errm, sigmatel chip innit? winXP /wmp10 should recognise? Else have you tried here:

http://www.iriveramerica.com/support/hd/H10_FAQ.aspx

or do you have a specific problem? I have a copy of the sigmatel reformatter if you need it ;)

Did you know that a sigmatel chip is also in the (AsusTek manufactured) Apple ipod shuffle? Gosh how interesting. But it explains why the shuffle's playback capabilities differ from 'normal' foxconn manufactured ipods. It also means there's an FM radio in there dying to be enabled :x

Another interesting ( not really) thing to note is that sigmatel's chip is based around the arm 7 core, as licensed for use by Ti in the OMAP 730 insde our beloved typhoon's.....

No, really thought I'd be off to sleep by now. I'll stop typing this though as if it's boring me it must be boring everyone else....

I can only think that it doesn't fit in with the ipod 'brand' strategy. The sigmatel chip can drive an LCD, do EQ functions, record voice notes, amp the sound and decode almost any music codec so they have just picked it off the shelf and tailered the firmware but I'm surprised there hasn't been a hack for it....yet :-)

I was *very* surprised to see it as it's usually the budget brands that run it as it's a cheap and cheerful one-stop mp3 player on a chip, in effect - it's the chip inside that guy who did the mp3 in a pez casing as it can do everything.

(Edit - obviously the guy hasn't got a sigmatel chip inside him (but that would be cool) - it's inside his *design* of pez mp3. www.pezmp3.com or something.)

For example, Luwen / Easydisk have their easy mp3 range and their firmware enables everything including a graphic equaliser from their sigmatel reference, and their 128mb player is about £9.99 these days, their 512 is £24.99, 1gb is about £40 IIRC, and it's the same chip as the shuffle. Can't do AAC though ;)

But because the more basic yet similar designed ipod shuffle says 'apple' they are over twice the price.

You wouldn't pay that if it said 'Asus' though would ya?

If it's XP SP1 or above it should be auto.
