Guest Wozbacca Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 anyone tried the new rom from the t-mobile site? what cracks me up is that the software ate on this new update is from before the last update was released! so now if we wanna put it on, we have to reinstall all the apps and settings again... is it worth it?

I went to the T-Mo site yesterday to download the ROM update and it's the same ROM that's already on my device, so it looks like T-Mo are keeping things pretty up to date. I believe the ROM was 1.6.2.4 WWE

Guest mitch45 Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 hi guys new here, had my MDA vario about 3weeks now and its great. i found the rom updates a while ago but didnt update it then, when i desided to go for it the other day, i couldnt find the site, looked all over but every link i find to it fails has it been withdrawn or something? plus does this affect if your G enabled? i havent done that yet ether but if the update wipes it out ill wait till after ive updated if i can ever find the site that is. many thanks.

Guest mitch45 Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 sorry i wasn't clear what i meant, question is..... if i 11g enabul then update the ROM (if i ever find it). will i have to re-enabul the 11g again? if theis is the case i mite aswell wait till after ive got the ROM update.

Guest welshgaz Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 what exactly does the new rom add to my vario? is it worth updating it or shall i just stick with my current, supplied version? dont fancy updating just for the sake of it! i recently wiped out my desktop pc by updating its rom wrongly and dont fancy knackering my vario!! what does the rom offer?

Thanks for your email about downloads for the MDA Vario. I'm sorry that you've been unable to upgrade the MDA Vario's ROM, I appreciate how frustrating this is. I've spoken to our technical department, and I'm sorry to say that there are no downloads available for the MDA Vario at the moment. The site address you've quoted was a test site only and has now been removed. Tests for the ROM for the Vario are still ongoing and I'm afraid there's no release date as of yet. When it's released the downloads will be available from the following site: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher?menui...ones_im_wnw_how. Let me apologise again for any inconvenience this has caused you and I'm sure the upgrade will be available soon. Thanks again for your email Andrew, and I hope this information is useful. Guest Drewtech Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 Well, I got two Varios one jst before Xmas and one just after (the supplier couldn't do both at once). The one before Xmas came with the old ROM Which I updated from the link and the one after Xmas came with the new ROM. So it seems that they did enough testing to put it on new machines. The handset that has been updated has worked without a problem.
