Guest phdutton Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Hi, just got a C600, and it doesn't seem to want to sync with my computer. Installed the latest Active sync (4.1), plugged in the phone, active sunc finds it, and opens a box saying "Retrieving Settings...", this just stays on the screen. I've realised that it works via some kind of network connection, so have made sure my firewall isn't interfearing with it. If I open the Acive Sync pannel in the phone while it's connected it tells me to just connect the cable to a computer. I've had Smartphones before, but it's been a while, I had the SPV, and the E200, so I'm just wondering if I'm missing something obvious! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Pete.

Guest phdutton Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Behind the window saying 'Retrieving Settings....' it shows 'SPV_600' connected. And in the connection setting on the computer it says it's connected. I am able to send data down the cable to the phone as well, but it won't sync, and I'm not able to get data off the phone to the computer.
Guest lucabrasie Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I too have had these issues and spent many hours on the phone to orange 'tech support' going through various things. THe final outcome, was that they informed me that the c600 just doesn't work with active sync AT ALL. Initially, they had said anything below 4.0, when that didn't work and all firewall things had been disabled, I was told to upgrade to 4.1 and when that didn't work, I was told in no uncertain terms that the c600 does not work with any version of activesync!!! They are waiting on a new version of activesync but have no idea if and when this is coming!!! There must be more people with these phones and having issues, if not how have they done it?? It needs resolving asap. Any input would be nice

Guest phdutton Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I just found another topic on here, and have sussed theproblem. I'm using Sygate! If I cose Sygate down completely it works! So on the look out for a new firewall now. Any recomendations?
Guest barrowfordred Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 My C600 will sync using the latest version of Activesync 4.1.0. However, just lately if the phone is plugged in the connection keeps disconnecting and re-connecting. This happens with my Ipaq as well.!!!!!!!!!

Guest Monkhouse Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I had probs too with C600 and ActiveSync at first... basically it was my firewall (Zone Alarm) which I fixed by allowing the C600 'in' to my system. I got the (quite comprehensive) guide on what to do from Microsoft's website. The 4.0 advice also applies to 4.1: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/hel...nc/default.mspx

Looked at Microsoft help screens and realised that there is a missing option on free version which allows you to change settings. If you have managed to alter this on the free version, will be glad to hear how you have it configured.

Guest MitchellO Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Considering the new way of syncing is over TCPIP its not surprising firewalls poke their nose in.

Find these through Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus controller, then open the tree. Each hub, right click and select Properties. You'll find a wee check box within the Power Management tab which is set on all your USB hubs which will disconnect the port whenever it feels the need to conserve power. It might be why its dropping out periodically.

Guest ElGato65 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I am not sure but doesn't this reffer to laptops rather than desktop PC's? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, unfortunately not. Power Management is a PITA. I disable it on all my PC's, and my laptop if connected to external power. Why would I want devices to power down if im using mains power,
