Guest NightFox Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Hallelujah! I just managed to get my Pocket Outlook MMS plug-in to stay installed on my "clean" Xda Mini S despite a soft-reset! :D :D :D I was baffled as I had succesfully done this before with no problem, but after a hard-reset last night I just couldn't get it to stay installed, and also I kept loosing any other Outlook accounts I had set up. Not sure what the key factor was, it may even have just been luck - but this is what I did 1) REMOVE STORAGE CARD 2) Hard Reset via Start/Settings/System/Clear Storage 3) Soft Reset when "3 second customisation" warning appears 4) Install TotalCommander (I did this from storage card installed at this stage, but re-removed the storage card as soon as it was installed) 5) Run TotalCommander 6) Browse to \extended_rom\ 7) Double-tap CAB-Shortcut-MMS1-JAVA5XX..... 8) Let it install 9) WAIT 10 MINUTES 10) Stop TotalCommander from Start/Settings/System/Memory/Running Programs 11) RUN MIDLET MANAGER 12) Stop Midlet Manager from Start/Settings/System/Memory/Running Programs 13) Run Messaging 14) Tap down-arrow next to "inbox" to check that MMS folder is there 15) Stop Messaging from Start/Settings/System/Memory/Running Programs 16) Soft Reset 17) Keep fingers crossed while it restarts I can't explain why any of those steps would make a difference, all I know is that this time it worked. And I'm not chancing another hard-reset to see if I can narrow down what I did right - I just hope this works for everyone else. You'll still need to put all the O2 MMS connection settings in (other threads give you the detail), but hey! ;)
Guest NightFox Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 (edited) Has the actually worked for anyone else? Loads of people seemed to be having this problem, but judging back the lack of any reply I'm not sure if it doesn't work, or just nobody's tried it yet. Just would be interested to know if it was just a fluke Edited January 30, 2006 by NightFox

Just would be interested to know if it was just a fluke <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've already replied to another thread but I found by just waiting for a bit (half an hour) then soft resetting did the trick. I did run midlet as well so maybe you have to just run an app that it installs in order to 'commint' the changes?
