help please !

I just got my C500 delivered this morning , but ,through the week I've been collecting various bits of software and updates for it . I want it un sim-locked ,de-certed etc but thought I would start with a ROM update first .On a couple of orange sites I have found two ROM updates RuuOCHv2.5v4.2.5.2ship.exe and operator version 4.1.1.4 ,the one on the phone is 4.2.1.1 , So now I'm confused as to which version to put on or have I already got it on.Reading some of the back posts it seems the 4.2.1.1 is the most recent. As said ,I really want to use it on T-mobile and need it un-locked ,I dont have a working orange card but have put a brand new card in to get the phone working and see what it's like .Where do I start guy's ?

well you fone is brand new, and from experience the latest roms are already on the phone so i dont think you need to worry.

unlocking and decerting is a easy and works very well on c500 and c550

but you must have an orange simcard in the phone

follow the link download the regedit program and follow the instructions of decerting, and then go to the link in the page i directed you to and get the installation things you need in there.

Classic mistakes

1.) HKLM means Hkey Local Machine

2.) when you get to the unlocking stage, unzip the file onto ure desktop and drag the cab NOT the .exe file as it wont run on the phone it has to be run on the pc.

To clear up the Sim card bit , I use T-mobile so dont have a registered Orange sim card , But have a brand new one straight out of the packet.I have inserted the sim into the C500 just to get to the menus and check the ROM type .As there is no credit on the card , naturally I cannot get connected to anything .Do I need a working Orange Sim card to Sim-unlock ??. I have followed the various helps files I have already downloaded .ie. changing the reg entries to de-cert it ,I have copied a.cab but I'm stuck from there .I have tried for ages last night and everytime I re-boot the phone I get the message "Networked is locked.please input unlock code" . So it has obviously not worked.This is so frustrating , I had no trouble unlocking & de-certing my old SPV [canary] ,It's getting to a stage where I would rather pay someone to do it , someone who know's what there doing.If the phone needs to be connected to the net then I cannot do it , unless I activate the Orange card and put some credit on it.I updated the ROM last night to a newer version 4.2.1.4 and everything seems OK. I wonder where I'm going wrong with the un-lock bit . Any further advice .please

No worries , all done and dusted . Firstly the reg key entry part worked fine ,Secondly , I was using a PC not connected to the net . I just installed active sync and ran SPVservices after connecting to the net. Yes it worked first time .I now have my T-Mobile card in and I'm up and running . I did spend a few hours back tracking on the the previous posts about unlocking the C500 and I had only slipped up on the net connection bit , but it was worth it. Thanks Guy's for your posts on the subject and for a splendid forum . To all you newbies who are having problems , read up on it first and download all the relevant software before you start .One final thing , to get access to your phone , as said you will need a Orange Sim card . I took new one straight out of the bag and put it in mine for it to work . Someone can have it for free if they need to unlock their phone .How's that for gratitude ?. Just send me a PM and I will post it [uK only ] for free . Remember I only have one , so be quick .

lol thts very generous for all the newbies, but to be honest i dont think its hard to pop to an orange shop and buy 1 for a quid.
