Guest mrw1004 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Hello, I have just installed MS reader from the MS site (the version which supports WM5). It requires activation with a passport, I went to the MS activation site with the Vario attached by activsync but it gives an error saying it is an old version PocketPC not supported? Its the latest version and Activsync is 4.1 does anyone know how to get the activation to work. all the best, mw
Guest smeg36 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Did you install it to the main memory, or default location? Reader won't activate if it is installed on a storage card. At least not in my experience, which doesn't include WM5.
Guest NightFox Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Have you previously removed all the OEM stuff from your Vario? If you have, you probably won't have the file oeminfo.xml in your /windows folder - this seems to be necessary for activation, and not having it results in the error message you described. Solution = work out which of the /extended_rom/ CAB files will install this file for you, or try to get a copy of the file. I posted last week trying to get this info for my O2 Xda, but no luck as of yet

Guest NightFox Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Do you have "oeminfo.xml" in the /windows dir on your device?
